We stayed at Donniford Bay this weekend as a result of a newspaper offer and whilst the facilities were excellent, we were charged for additional things like entertainemnt passes that weren't mentioned at the outset.
The setting is beautiful and the layout of the site is lovely (no overcrowding). However, we were bitterly disappointed as the chalet was absolutely filthy. Numerous hairs in the bathroom and generally not nice. Paintwork and floors very dirty and the kitchen cupboards were greasy and smelly.
We would have really like to come back to Donniford Bay at some point as site was lovely but at no point would we consider this all the time that they are unable to provide clean accommodation

very dirty and run down, staff were very helpful and cheerful, swimming pool small and overcrowded and teenagers running about in the small pool which is for toddlers again dirty and poorly run. WONT BE GOING BACK and wouldn't recommend it either it is a shame because we have used haven parks before and they have been really good, the best thing about there was the west somerset railway that was excellent!!! i would really consider reading all the reviews before booking here ie these reviews her ...- Read subaru's review (104 words)

We went to Doniford bay in October 2009 and had a very good time. My 2 year old son loved it! The swimming pool is a good size and not too cold or busy. My little one loved playing bowling and playing in the arcade. The entertainment at night was ok for the kids it and they can have there photos taken with them, but they do charge £6 per photo if you want it printing or £10 for two so take a camera with you. We went to Minehead which is a 20min drive from Doniford and had a great tim ...- Read Guest's review (167 words)

After reading all the negative reviews on haven holidays, doniford bay, we were afraid to find a terrible holiday park but non of that
Yes, the chalets are out of date but our chalet was properly cleaned, not at all smelly and situated nicely. The staff was friendly and helpfull
The negative points of this park are :
- the shop is much to small for a park of this size and not well stocked
- there is no beach
- most of the outdoor play-area has to pay extra for; this was for us the first time i ...- Read drealm's review (121 words)

We booked a sun holiday and after having 2 per year for the last 4 years this was the only dissapointment.
We got allocated a chalet that looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in years , we decided that with 2 kids and being heavily pregnant we would not be staying. We joined the complaints line in reception and after talking to a lovely girl we paid to be upgraded and moved to devon cliffs as we have been before and loved it.
Had we have known we would get a filthy chalet we wouldn't have gone he ...- Read donmarie1's review (130 words)

Please don't consider staying in a chalet at Donniford Bay, they are badly equiped, dirty, smelly and poorly maintained. Ours had mould on the ceilings, smelled of smoke and had no working heating or cooker. Staff unhelpful and stressed out by all the guests complaining. general maintenance of site poor.
park has little regard for customer satisfaction or safety. Wrote to Haven to complain, got a list of excuses and fobbed off!- Read wigglyworm's review (82 words)

we stayed at doniford bay for a long weekend in may and enjoyed it so much that we decided to book an extra two nights, at a cost of just 30 pound extra per night. There was loads to do for all ages, even our 1yr old was able to join in the fun at a tots group which ran at the same time as club r&b which entertains the older children. The park was well maintained and our caravan was very well equipt so we were able to cook most of our meals instead of having the extra expense of eating out. The ...- Read Guest's review (254 words)

On arrival at Doniford Bay, Haven Holidays, we were a little concerned as some of the accommodation looked very dated.....however, we were suprised to find ours was spacious if in need of a good clean!
The entertainment was really amusing and especially "Fun Star Mike" went out of his way to be lovely to me and my friend and the 5 teenagers we took with us!
The pool was large but it was a shame the outside pool didnt look quite as well kept.
On the whole it was a fabulous break for a minimum co ...- Read liberty2's review (147 words)

Recently returned from a four day break at Doniford Bay.On arrival we were allocated standard chalet accomadation,a more accurate discription would be sub standard. Demolision of these outdated eyesores is long over due. From reading other reviews most complaints seem to be about these shabby and out dated buildings. we cant all be wrong.- Read pablo1953's review (65 words)

Chalets spoil Doniford Bay. They are old & tired. Haven charge big prices and don't always deliver what is stated. We have upgraded each year & found that you really do get what you pay for. Last year we had a brilliant luxury platinum caravan that was privately owned, we booked it through Haven, but this year we have booked direct with the owners & have a much better deal & we know what we're getting.- Read dulcie's review (101 words)

This holiday took the biscuit from the moment we arrived. The brochure boasts such delights as a 12' wide luxury caravan with all mod cons including a full size fridge, a children's indoor play area, great food and entertainment etc etc.Lets start with caravan:It was not 12' wide and luxurious. It had 'top quality stools' around a dining table. Ideal for strapping the chair for my two year old on - not! Considering you have to put the age of the children on the booking form, you would have thoug ...- Read wotnohair's review (310 words)

RECEPTIONA poor welcome at reception, and 2 minor reports of problems with the caravan that we reported were ignored by staff throughout the week. Staff training needs attention here CARAVANClean and tidy. Almost new but freezing cold; that's poor insulation priority when built, hardly the park owners responsibility SHOPBasic provisions only. No fruit and veg but that is probably market driven. Helpful and friendly service by two guys, but one very rude female who fails to even utter a please or ...- Read paul10000's review (198 words)

This has been the 5th "sun holiday" we (2 adults 2 children) have been on over the years and I can certainly say we have been put off for life now booking another one due our experience! The "entertainment was dire, the reception staff had clearly had enough (being the end of the season) And the restaurant was poor!!!! My husband had the strangest mixed grill I had ever seen!! The beer tasted like the pumps had never been cleaned!!The pool was awful, I found dirty underwear in the cubical (god kn ...- Read claireabelle's review (149 words)

Very tired, very jaded. We paid for standard, wouldn't expect luxury, but would, at least, expect it to be clean. Wouldn't go to Doniford Bay again.- Read baldlygoing's review (97 words)

Well what can I say about Doniford Bay. We hired a standard chalet for nearly £500 and I know we weren't expecting luxury but what we actually got was the most filthiest, smelly accomodation you could get. The carpet was that dirty I had to keep all our shoes on, we have 3 young children and their socks became dirty if we didn't keep them on, the windows were mouldy, oven - rusty, mattresses - stained, furniture -shabby and the smell was that bad we couldn't sleep of a night. The grill was ...- Read delpo3630's review (224 words)

I wouldn't want to go there in my life again, the entertainment was just so bad every one was leaving, the staff had the I dont care, way, the chalet was dirty, the water tasted bad, the toilets on the main part was dirty, there was a big fight at 6 pm in the evening when children were around.- Read sandybeachdonkey's review (73 words)

We have just returned from a week at Doniford and found it to be a great place. The staff were pleasant and the caravan we had was very clean and tidy. We enjoyed the week and would go again. Bad points: the prices in the restaurant were so exorbitant that most people bought food from local supermarkets and cooked in their caravans (not only expensive but awful) as for one of the bar staff, well he has problems adding up on one evening I was charged 3 different prices for the same two drinks.Fin ...- Read kmob's review (125 words)

Just returned from a last minute Monday to Friday stay at Doniford - nearly didn't go due to all the bad comments on web site. However, we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to 4 double bedroomed villa,(2 storey) with heating, tv, 2 bathrooms (1 with shower), quite clean although old. Didn't use many of the facilities due to young child (who enjoyed Barnaby bear, polly etc.). Thought there was too much bingo (perhaps because end of season?).
Bit of a sell on expensive photos every eveni ...- Read angelajane's review (198 words)

Clean park, great food, lovely views, brilliant rock pool and stream close by. Great place to stay if you need a base so you can go out and just need somewhere to sleep. Chalets are smelly and beds uncomfortable. Fridge was very smelly. Have to queue for ages for drinks and food. Toilets next to main area very dirty and smelly. We would go back to Doniford Bay but I would never book a standard chalet again. We would book a prestige caravan.- Read hanad9294's review (83 words)

I booked our holiday for £375 two & half days ago. My wife has since taken ill and her doctor has advised her not to travel. Do you think Haven customer services would be understanding and return our money................forget it mate, £375 down the drain. One thing is for sure all my friends will know about this and we won't be going to Haven in the future. Mind you looking at most of the reviews it seems a good thing not to be going to that dump.- Read Guest's review (94 words)
