Good Points: 1. Fantastic feature set (including DVR, 1080i HDTV ready, matching stand)
    2. Good Sound (Dolby Digital) incl. surround speakers
    3. Good connectivity (incl. 2x Component, 2x S-Video and PC VGA inputs)
    4. Good image quality
    5. Programmable Remote Control

Bad Points: 1. Some image problems (faded colours, murky blacks)
    2. Remote control functionality could be better
    3. DVR/PVR (40GB) can't be upgraded
    4. No Ethernet port for copying recordings from DVR/PVR to PC

General comments: This Samsung WS32Z10 is a fantastic centre piece for your home theatre needs.

This Widescreen TV has an amazing feature set including:
    - 76cm Widescreen
    - 100Hz Scanning
    - Image noise reduction
    - 1080i HDTV ready
    - 5.1 surround sound (Dolby Digital and DTS)
    - 40GB DVR/PVR hard drive (with time-shift playback/recording)
    - Twin Tuner PiP
    - Teletext
    - Programmable Remote
    - Component Inputs x2
    - Coaxial and Optical Audio Inputs
    - S-Video Inputs x2
    - VGA PC Input

The picture is very sharp but has some problems reproducing blacks and whites in particular. The colours are also not as vivid as I would like. The component input helps considerably and is a must for any buyer of this TV.

The PiP function is very user friendly. The noise reduction works well, but the image resizing has some problems (as can be seen in the pictures - 4:3 has some curvature around the corners). The 1080i HDTV compatibility is unreal - the picture is super sharp and the surround sound is great. I did find the TV changes channel too slowly; one of my few gripes.

The sound overall is good with good inbuilt sound stage options. The delay for the rears can be set and the surround speakers do their job nicely. I've never seen a TV include Dolby Digital and DTS decoding with 5.1 speakers as well.

The DVR/PVR is fantastic and as far as I'm aware, unheard of in CRTs. It's a shame it can't be easily upgraded, as the 40Gb drive is a little limiting (although you can record up to 32 hrs). I would really like to see a 100Mb Ethernet port on this TV so that the recording's can be copied to a PC or movies played from a PC.
The included time-shift function is superb and I was very impressed by the search speeds and recording options. But, I'd also like to see the inclusion of longer name fields when renaming recorded programs or even the ability to set the name when programming the recording.

The remote control is programmable and can control your DVD, VCR, STB and Cable-TV all at the touch of a button. Codes can be entered for various brands of controllers and I have found these to be very successful in controlling my devices. I would like to see the button placement changed so that high use buttons are more accessible and a greater use of colour on the buttons.

    Highly recommended!
