Good Points: Fortunately, this film has no voice-overs! It is relatively short and is easy to follow. It has parts that will make you laugh, cry and also, manages to make you feel a little queezy.
Bad Points: At times, the sub-titles were hard to read.
General comments: If you are a die-hard-fan of "Beato" Takeshi Kitano, then Zatoichi is surely a film you must go and see.
However, if you have rarely seen a Kitano film, I suggest you watch this if you like; samurais, sword fighting with lots of blood and/or blips of spontaneous laughter at random moments during a film.
This film is based on a book. Except, Takeshi Kitano (who plays the lead role as Zatoichi - the blind wanderer/masseuse/samurai) puts in his unique and almost genius contribution to make the greatest film released in recent months.
It would not be wise to compare this with his other success, like Battle Royale. This should be seen with a clean mind and also some sort of love for how this man can work wonders to create a film that keeps you thinking and be bedazzled.
