“These tarts are not suitable for vegetarians as the...”

Written on: 28/03/2011

These tarts are not suitable for vegetarians as the company insist on using Cochineal to dye the cherry red. This dye is made from crushed up beetles! Mr. Kipling Cherry Bakewells improved recipe with more ground almonds is excellent. General mouth texture is a delight. Eye appeal charming. An ageless classic! My 86-year old husband (born in Cheshire) and I live in the USA (Texas); He loves Mr Kipling's Cherry Bakewells dearly, and has enjoyed them since he was a boy. We seldom find the Bakewells in the US, (specialty and import stores only), but when we do I buy several packages and I ration them out to him for desserts, hiding the boxes… Read Full Review
