Good Points: There are plenty of branches, and the internet service is very useful.
Bad Points: Far more frequent errors than in the past, which are difficult to get sorted out. Customer service now seems to be very much about how right they are and how wrong you are, even when they are not.
General comments: I have had a Bank of Scotland account for more than ten years, and it was always OK. Nothing great, but no problems, which kept the hassle factor at a minimum. Since being taken over by Halifax, the service and the competence seems to have gone out of the window. The account is no better than many of the competitors, and from that point of view there are many better accounts to go for.

I recently moved to London after having lived in 3 other countries before the UK, and I have never had such a bad experience with a bank, even in the so-called Third World where my banking experience has been excellent!
The service that RBS offers is sub-standard at the moment. For example, my partner opened his current account with RBS one month ago, and to date he is still not in possession of a working ATM card with a PIN number, as they have made mistakes with his account 3 times! I am go ...

I have been a Bank of Scotland Current Account customer for a number of years and used to be quite happy with the service although they never seemed to have the best rates.
I am now going to change my bank as the customer service has gotten so bad, it is unbearable.
You have to wait usually a minimum of 5 minutes to get through on their phone service, 20 minutes in a cue to speak to be served in their branches (once you have found one!- and that's in Scotland!) It takes them a minimum of 5 da ...

I have tried twice now to get a statement about interest and tax for last tax year from the Bank of Scotland. The last time I called was almost 3 weeks ago. I phoned today and am Still waiting! I only have another 6 weeks to send my tax forms back to the Inland Revenue. Staff over the phone have been extremely unhelpful and I even tried to get it from my branch without any success. Hello people - I only want information about my account, its not rocket science!

I wonder how many people reading this review will click with a daily familiarity concerning the failure of Bank of Scotland ATM machines up and down the country. I live in South Hampshire and where ever I go and want to use a Bank of Scotland ATM machine, they are either broken or out of cash - for long periods. Bearing in mind the majority of ATM machines in garages in this locality are Bank of Scotland owned and managed. One garage manager (Texaco) had the machine removed and replaced with an ...

I requested a transfer of £1000 from my Bank of Scotland Current Account to my husband's account (we do this each month), they told me they'd done it. My husband then paid his credit card bill for us to find out 5 days later that they had only transferred £100. For him to get back his unauthorised overdraft charges I have to prove that I told them to transfer £100 and not £1000.
Customer services staff are undertrained on Halifax procedures now adopted.
Telephone bank ...
