I've been a customer of Gordon Scott's in Solihull for many, many years and have always received excellent customer service but on Saturday (9 February) this was not the case. I had already had my child's feet measured and had chosen a pair of shoes but after taking a ticket and waiting over 20 minutes to be served I realised that most people were waiting for their children to measured so I made my way downstairs to the 'adult' shoe department. I again waited to be served but as no one... (read more)

Bought a pair of brogues from Jones in Newcastle in November, the sole has split already after around only six weeks wear. I returned them to the shop and the Manager has arranged to have new soles fitted, this is all well and good but she has also advised me I should not wear my shoes every day for work. I should have several pairs and alternate them to reduce wear. Sorry but I don't pay £140 for a pair of shoes and expect them to last less time than a pair for £50 from next. She... (read more)

I had an excellent shopping experience in the Bristol branch: I had bought some boots for my daughter to wear for school. I didn't let her wear them until I had checked with the school whether they were acceptable for the uniform. When they (FINALLY) came back to me to say that they weren't, we had had the boots for over a month, so I felt a bit cheeky even asking for an exchange but for £55, thought it was worth at least asking. The assistant was completely helpful and co-operative and... (read more)

I saw a pair of heeled brogue shoe boots for £70 which I really loved. I have bunions so I need wide fitting shoes. The 7 (my usual size) was way too tight but the salesguy said that an 8 would do the trick and, although I was a little dubious, he said he would order them in and I decided to give them a try. I returned on the date I was told to but they hadn't bothered to order them and I had to go back again a week later. When I finally got to try the larger size they seemed, as I had... (read more)

I recently tried purchasing a pair of Fly London MEZ boots from the Sheffield Jones the bootmaker store, however I came out of the shop leaving the boots behind. The staff were friendly Enough but when it comes to customer service and sales they don't Have a clue what they are doing. The pair of boots they brought out for me to try On had a few marks, I pointed them out and the response was " it's a natural Product it's in the hide" I was unsure and had a good look at the boots In day light... This is the comment I got while trying to place an online order. What does she mean by "this part of the world"? Historically orders we have accepted where the payment card originates from Nigeria have been charged back to us. Unfortunately as your card originates from this part of the world it is with regret that we cannot accept your order. Again, we are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. Bakers do come in width fittings, but due to lack of storage, we are unable to stock a full range. we only provide a G, one width fitting up from a standard fit.
looking at the date you have posted a review its clear to see that you posted around christmas. during this time we had only been open for arround 2 months and had hired our christmas staff in the prevous month. this may have been the cause of a lack of information as training was still very fresh for alot of staff.
we all apologise for any incovinence this may have caused you and are always continuing to look for new ways of improving our customer service and product knowelege.

I have bought a few pairs of Jones shoes online and, although I've had no problems with the quality, I have occasionally had to return shoes that don't fit. Be aware that, under UK Distance Selling Regulations, you are legally entitled to a refund of the initial delivery charge as well as the cost of the shoes. The delivery charge to Portugal is £17.50 much higher than other stores I might add!), they must refund the £17.50 as well as the cost of the shoes. On every occasion that I have... (read more)

I bought a pair of Camper men's shoes on sale at a hefty £79. Very expensive, but bought them on the premise they would last a long time. However, after just a month the soles had split right across. I took them back to the store, without a receipt and the manager was able to corroborate my purchase through looking at the retail history on the till, and cross matching it with my card details. The manager, David, did indeed go the extra mile, and could not have been friendlier.... (read more)

I bought a pair of boots in the sale at Christmas by the middle of February the lining by my little toe has worn away, took them back to store where they were sent away for quality control and apparently that is fair wear and tear!!!! on a pair of boots worth £110 after 2 1/2 months. In my book this is totally unacceptable and I will not be purchasing from them again. I shall be returning to Marks and Spencer and Clarks where I can get cheaper shoes that last much longer. Great, friendly service. Spacious shop layout. I have a few pairs of shoes from Jones the Bootmaker and have found them to be very comfortable and stylish. They always seem to have my shoe size 8, which can be difficult to get in other shops. Would highly recommend. (read more)

Having used this store for several years now I have always found this store to be exceptional. The staff are pretty regular and I find them to always to be helpful with the manageress on several occasions offering to order things in for me and going out of her way to get them too. As an adult I know that sizings vary so much and I am always willing to listen to the assistants and their advice. At least they bother to bring something out rather than returning and just saying no. I always have a positive experience in this store and shall remain a loyal customer.

I've bought from Jones Bootmaker a few times. Always found the sales staff really helpful. For example, last time I was there the sales assistant explained the shoes I was trying on were a soft leather so would crease with time and so weren't any good for wearing with a formal suit. I'm not sure every shop would have given me this level of assistance. (read more)

Jones is a good shop for nice looking leather shoes. I have had a couple of pairs. However, one fault is that on the heels there are bands of leather around the heel to make it look as thought the heel is solid leather. However, these are veneer strips and they begin to peel off, revealing a rubber core. You are left with heels with bits of leather flapping or you can rip them off. Either way isnt the best! Friends, I agree with you, but I was lucky to have found a site after-sales service is very good, (uk.uggmall.co) I bought a pair of shoes this site, received and found the shoes a bit small, though buy online, but they gave me a good discount, I bought a new pair, I feel really good.
