    Good Points: Value for money
    Smooth refined sound, but with a fair grip
    Far better than a new similar priced amp (2003)


    Bad Points: Its odd in that it lacks a little sound staging, but the quality of the sound is so pleasant it doesn't really matter. All hifi has some colouration, this is very easy colouration to live with.


    General comments: There are plenty of dealers around to refurbish these. All hifi starts going I guess after about 10 years so its worth remembering.

    Bi wiring with this amp was absolutely with my monitor audio rs8 speakers, something about the feedback inducted current in the speakers starting a resonant bass hum.

    Not at all treble biased on my set up. Arcam 8 cd player a good match, basically unbeatable value for second hand kit.

    The Arcam Alpha 9 Audio Amplifier overall offers pleasing sound reproduction and can be improved with the right cd player, interconnects, speaker cable and speakers.
