We have been staying in formule1s for several years. They used to be cheap clean and cheerful, but that is changing. As they have deteriorated we have tended to stay in the Etaps, but this journey we couldn't get in to the hotels we wanted so as it was Ausust and we have had exerience of there being "no room at the inn" before: we booked the formule one at Basel (which was always spotless) and the formule 1 at Calais (which was getting a bit run down last time we were there). . How... (read more)

After paying 44 pounds a night to stay on the weekend I was shocked at how much of a rip off this place was. The whole place stunk of poo!!! The toilets stunk and were filthy! Showers filthy! I have stayed in hostels that were ten times better than this place. Staff who organised breakfast were rude. Rooms are a total dump! Was like a hostel but not as clean A place to stay clear of! I've seen some people complain about these hotels saying that you need to share showers and that their ugly etc. Only when you have been to as many hotels as i have over the years will you understand that these arnt that bad. I've stayed in hotels that cost twice as much, often with no hot water, noisy naighbors/nighclubs next door, no tv, internet etc, heating, aircon etc. F1 hotels are "standard" you can always expect heating, wifi, aircon, TV, very cheap breakfast and very hot showers!... originally my intended length of stay at the formule 1 wallsend was from a minimum of 2 weeks to a maximum of 4 weeks. i am not a department of housing client and am responsible for my own accommodation costs. during my time here i have had the priviledge and delight to form many good friendships with the members of the 'f1 team', all of which i hope last a lifetime.
Dwayne Ratko (manager) leads a 'top class' team of employees here and I have the utmost respect and admiration for him...

DO NOT EVER STAY HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
The place is filth, the rooms are scum, the multicoloured doors and corridors give u headaches. The room we were supplied with had p*ss stained matress. Lurch who worked on front desk changed us to a room with no heater. Sure when you pay £35 you dont expect much but this was scrut! The place was similar to guantanamo bay and im sure is full of illegal imigrant workers! The room was similar to aids and would advise any human to think twice...

It was the worst hotel I've ever been into in my LIFE! I stayed at Formula 1 only for 1 night with my boyfriend and it was absolutely discusting. I am not a fussy person and I did not expect 5star quality or service for the price but this hotel was something-else. We asked for a double room and we got a bunk-bed! and the worst part was that we had to share the toilet and showers with everyone-else which was filthy. there was a hand wash basin in the room but no hand wash or even soap. the tv... These F1 hotels are perfect if you're looking for a stop-over place to stay, they are more like budget travel lodges rather than an actual hotel. They are being modernised across France and we stayed in the one at Linas near the main motorway from Paris to Bordeaux. The toilets are self cleaning so are always clean, as the the showers. The halways at this particular one smelt but the rooms were spot on, a double bed and a single bunk. There's a flat screen TV and power sockets. A small sink... (read more)

The Formule 1 Hotel is reminiscent of the North America chain Motel 6. There is one shared toilet and shower per floor that is self-cleaning
Appeared clean, except for some light-white stains on the carpet. Very cheap for a night if sharing. Room did not smell of cigarette smoke. Free car park. Close to Charleroi airport. Next to gas station. Blind keeps room very dark for sleeping. However it was ugly. Hallways smelled of cigarette smoke. Thin walls; can hear clientele down the hall.

If you are on limited budget, Formule 1 Hotels are the ideal place to stay while visiting France, but not only. Not far from the city center, quite spacious, clean rooms, with a TV set. Good comfort for a reasonable price (read more)

Formule 1 Hotels, definitely value for money if you want somewhere easy and cheap to stay. Self cleaning system for wc and shower rooms. Hotel room adequate for 2 adults and child, double bed with cross over single bed. Snack/food/drink machines in corridor and microwave. We stayed here for 4 nights while visiting Disneyland Paris as only few mins drive away (Marne la Vallee, Collegien). Buffallo Grill restaurant & pizza restaurant a few min walk away. (read more)

Value for money, but try to source nearby cafe or motorway services for breakfast. Hot food available at hotel if you just want quick microwave meal, usually close to local grill or restaurant but be careful because the restaurant knows they have a "captive" market (read more)

They seem to be in the process of renovating many of the F1 hotels in France at the moment installing air conditioning in some of the hotels and general painting. When I stayed at F1 in Nantes, it was like staying in a building site, all the walls and floors had been stripped, no signs to direct you to your room as they had been removed for decorating. 8 AM and the builders were at it again hammering and drilling, I thought people go away on holidays to get away from this sort of thing? At... (read more)

Formule 1 Hotels are very good, we have stayed at four different ones and the standard is always the same. Clean, comfortable, easy to book, good breakfast. (read more)

If all you want when travelling through somewhere, is a clean and warm place to sleep before moving on again, for a ridiculously cheap price, then you really can't go wrong at a Formule 1 hotel.
7/10 represents the clean and warm accommodation against a cost of 29 euros per night (which was for 2 adults, 1 child, and a baby - we provided travel cot).
This review is based on the Formule1 Hotel in Avranches in Normandy.

Excellent value for money (30 euros for a room which easily sleeps 3), breakfast had a good choice of brioche loaf, baguettes, Nesquick cereal, fresh OJ, coffee and fairtrade hot chocolate. (which costs an additional 3 approx each). Beds are comfy enough and rooms are fairly spacious. Staff didn't look very professional but were approachable and helpful.
Very close to motorway so good for continuing journey early the next day. As for the night in the hotel itself, the decor seems quite tacky...

I didn't end up staying in the Formule 1 hotel in Newcastle. We stumbled across it not realising that our hotel was actually behind this one, but our experience would possibly make me think twice before booking into this hotel. We arrived at the door to find that they have no reception, instead there is a machine outside that you put your credit card details in, and it should give you a ticket with your room code (to enter your room and the locked front door) and room number on it. A... (read more)

Formule 1 Hotels provide good value for money and ideal if you are driving across France.
The conditions are basic. The shared facilities are clean and rely on self cleaning technology.
The breakfasts are OK but after trying them a couple of times you'll want to drive to a local cafe or store for breakfast instead.

Right...you are just forgetting that at Motel 6 you have your OWN bathroom. Motel 6 is not top of the line for sure. But it's definitely a step above Formule 1. ;)
