As a sole trader I took on an apprentice and never considered that the tax,national insurance, statutory sick pay etc. would be a problem. When this proved to be the case my wife found out about this scheme where an advisor comes to your home and takes you through the various processes to ensure that you fill out all of the records correctly and submit the proper end of year documents.
