Not very good at all having used CAD at work I am suprised at how bad this is. one cannot even put up a 7'x8'shed or set the parameters of the garden in feet which I having been using for 50 years and am used. I just want a simple package that I can use to show my ideas to clients when I work on their gardens. I have bought Punch Home and Garden Design Collection only to find it is identical to 'Your 3D Garden Designer' but no idea from the titles. Both are equally bad ie just dreadful. i have now got Garden Planner from the Internet as a download and that fits the bill pretty well. So will give up on these 2 a waste of £30 in total. Labelling would help. Glad I only got Punch 2nd hand. I am now lost as to what I am reviewing as the title is not what I started on.

The Geoff Hamilton Gardening Double Pack: 3D Garden Designer & Plant Encyclopedia is good for the price. But it is limited, slow loading, still requires the original cd in the drive as a key to run the program on your hard drive . And wish you could get more physical garden objects defined or loaded and shared from other users. Has potential to be a good product, just isn't quite first rate though. The encyclopedia of plants is quite good for users in the usa, don't know about other places.

I can't comment on the encycopedia but the 3D Garden Designer is frustrating to use. Like one of the other reviewers I also use AutoCad and Photoshop.
I think the producers of this product should go back to the drawing board and revamp it! I don't know how much of a hand Geoff Hamilton played in producing this, probably none. But if I was him I'd be embarrassed! In short there much better Garden designer software out there that I have experienced I feel. Looking at gardening books etc and drawing your designs out on paper are still a good way of looking at your designs in plan view. If you still want to see your designs in 3D then shop around, I do not recommend Geoff Hamilton Gardening Double Pack: 3D Garden Designer & Plant Encyclopedia.

There is'nt too much for me to say on this Home and Gardening software, to be honest its just about good enough to recommend it as "ok". Simply because Geoff Hamilton 3D Garden Designer & Plant Encyclopedia its not even worth trying for someone like me, a new gardener with a new bare garden, hopeless. Infact the only reason I would say it is ok is because in my opinion its cheap!

Purchased the Geoff Hamilton Plant Encyclopaedia to use as a reference tool, what a waste of time!
I am very computer literate, have a qualification in CAD, am proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator so it is not a lack of ability on my part that poses the problem.
THIS PROGRAMME IS RUBBISH.
It seems that there is no access to the plant library, you are presented with one plant at a time and it frequently seems to be the same one whatever you programme into the search boxes (which must be programmed EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU WANT TO VIEW ANOTHER PLANT).
Should an encyclopaedia not give a number of choices or the ability to scroll through a library? Of course it should.
Save yourself that aggravation of having to wade through this rubbish.
Walk to the bookshop in your bare feet even if it is 30 miles away and carry the largest gardening book you can find home with your poor bleeding feet, it will be less painful than having to wrestle with this programme.
I ONLY PAID £1.99 FOR IT AND I FEEL CHEATED!

Bought Geoff Hamilton Gardening Double Pack: 3D Garden Designer & Plant Encyclopedia CD in Lidl's April 2006 for £5.99. Don't pay any more than this for it. It works without any problems on my XP system. The idea is good, having the built-in encyclopedia but the objects (fencing, walls, surfaces etc.) have very little choice (walls - red brick or grey stone), the graphics are poor and sizing is very fiddly and long-winded. If you want this to look realistic then buy something else. If a rough idea is all you are looking for then £5.99 is a fair price.

The Geoff Hamilton Gardening Double Pack: 3D Garden Designer & Plant Encyclopedia is a waste of space.
The external packaging shows it is XP compatable, but when you open it only the encyclopedia will work with XP. Due to opening the package now struggling to get money back.
Complete mis-representation in my opinion!

I found the images very poor in the Geoff Hamilton Gardening Double Pack: 3D Garden Designer & Plant Encyclopedia. If you're lucky you will get a picture with the plant but many have either the wrong photograph or none at all.
Many of the plants are obviously photographed in America and many of the plants are not relevant to the British climate.
Not easy to navigate and the plant information is limited.
An old product with a new cover. Look at other Geoff Hamilton CD's to get more reviews. You will see they are consistantly bad.

Another bad review for the Geoff Hamilton Gardening Double Pack which is a VERY POOR QUALITY CD. The company just change the cover whenever bad reviews inevitably appear. Look at the following and see the reviews. They are consistantly BAD:
3D Garden Design V3 Gift Pack.
Geoff Hailton Gardening Double Pack.
3D Garden Designer & Plant Encyclopedia.
3D Garden Design&Plant encyclopedia Gift Pack.
Geoff Hamilton's 3D Garden Designer 3.
Geoff Hamilton's 3-D Garden Designer.
This CD is made in America and very little use for the British market.

Geoff Hamilton Gardening Double Pack: 3D Garden Designer & Plant Encyclopedia - Having seen many reviews citing the poor quality of this product, I thought I could do better with it. I failed completely. It has now been consigned to the compost heap where it belongs.
Gardencomposer.com recommends this product for the UK market, but beware of this referral.

Although the cover has a picture of the much loved Geof Hamilton I doubt very much that he had anything to do with the making of the CD. This is an American product sold cheaply here in the UK and has very little use for the British gardener. The pictures are often so poor you can't identify the plant. At least 1/3rd of the plants are irrelevant to the UK.
You get what you pay for. Cheap and not much use.
