General comments: I purchased Mcafee Internet security suite version 6 2004. On installing and registering I managed for the first time ever to download a virus from Mcafee registration site. I tried to remove it with the new Mcafee virus scan with no success. I went to their chat room and after three visits, five hours on line and a large phone bill the virus was removed. When I mentioned about the corruption of various programmes by the newly installed mcafee I was referred to the computer manufacturere. I contacted Dell and before any advice etc was given I had to pay £34. Eventually after repeating the problem to three people I was informed that the solution was to uninstall windows and re-install it. The person I was speaking to had to consult others after every question, not very inspiring!! After spending about an hour on the phone I decided to leave the matter.
The next day I phoned four local computer repair facilities and explained the problem. The view from all four was that they had all experience from their customers of the problem that I had experienced, and the solution was to ditch Mcafee and purchase Norton.
This I did and within 15mins had installed the suite and registered it, this new product is now working efficiently.
Finally, this whole exercise has left me over £120 poorer.
