Disney's Adventures In Typing With Timopn And Poom
Disney's Adventures in typing with Timopn and Poomba
My daughters used this when I bought it for them back in the late ninties.
Then my mother decided to become a silver surfer (in her late 60's).
her new laptop had all sorts of problems with the program. i relaised very quickly that windows Vista was the culprit. Why can't Microsoft make their operating systems recognise older programs and then resolve compatability automatically. More money to be made the way they do things. Anyway here is the short set of notes I made for my mother. This was done to be fool prof for those who have hardly any knowledge of computers

Video problems with Adventures in typing with Timone and Poomba
There are compatibility issues with Windows Vista and this program
To overcome these problems we need to force windows Vista to use an
older Video format (from the days when the program was first published).
Hi Mum
A short cut has been created and placed on your desktop.
The compatibility (properties) in the short cut have been set to -
. Windows 95
. 256 colours
. 640 x 480
This is how to use the program Adventures in
typing with Timone and Poomba on a
computer running Windows Vista
1. Do not put the CD-rom in the computer until you are asked
2. Indentify the shortcut/icon on your desktop to start the
program. Look for a large letter T with the description below
it Video fix - Adventures in typing
3. Click on this T icon
4. When the computer asks for the CD-rom, place it
in the disc bay and wait for the program to start.
5. Use the program as normal.
6. To quit the program so that it saves the progress you
have made - use the QUIT symbol in the
program's screen
7. When the program has shut-down, remove the
CD-rom from the disc bay
Note that steps 1 through to 7 have to be done every
time the program is started and stopped.
You will not have to do anything to put settings back to where
they should be - Windows Vista will do that automatically.
This is how to stop any program if you are
having problems and can not see how
to stop it.
1. Press the following two keys together Ctrl Alt
2. While holding those two keys down, press a third
key - the Delete key
3. A menu will pop up.
Click once on the Task Manager option
4. A new window will open with a list of the programs that are
running on your computer. Click once on the program that
is causing the problem.
5. At the bottom of the new window click on End Task
6. The program that was causing the problem will be shut
down for you.
Note that using this method is a sort of emergency stop so it will not
save any new work you have done on the program/file.

I LOVE IT!! I love how fun it is to learn to type. Most kids would be making excuses to not type on the computer but I think this game makes kids enjoy learning how to type.

Disney Learning: Adventures In Typing With Timon &
Disney Learning: Adventures in Typing with Timon & Pumbaa is advertised as Windows XP compatible. Unfortunately it will NOT install on XP and gives an incorrect Operating System message saying it needs Win 95. As for support, there is none, as the contact support company do not reply and don't show this product in their listings. (Probably no longer have contract with Disney). That said it you still have Win95/98 the programme itself is a very useful and enjoyable way for young (& old) to learn typing.

This Was Extremely Easy To Use And A Useful Tool F
This was extremely easy to use and a useful tool for children of all ages to learn about typing.
Only problem is that it is very basic, and therefore has a short time span. More of a tool than a learning game.
