My wife bought me the The DVD Guide to British Birds 7.0 on the spur of the moment, she had seen it in the bargain software bin of WH Smith (or some place similar) and with me having an interest in birds she decided to treat me.
Overall I would have to rate this software as average, it contains videos, images and sounds of all the native birds in this country - this as it is sounds great but it hasen't been implemented as well as it could - the videos are not very high quality - I guessed that they had all been compressed like mad to fit them on the dvd but I noticed the software was only using about a third of the disk space of the dvd - this to me smacks of bad implementation - they would have been better served going easier on the compression and filling more of the disk.
Some of the other videos and images look slightly dated and I've had a few problems with the 'what species of bird is it' tool - gets it wrong from time to time but overall as I said above this software is average so take it as it is and if you really want it try to find it at a reduced price.
