For me, it's all about three things: the neck pickup, the neck itself, and the ease of play of this little beast. The neck pickup is a Firebird humbucker, which produces a great, bluesy, jazzy tone. I play it through a Rivera Chubster and get a wonderful rich tone. It is distinctive, and I like that, because it doesn't sound like every other Gibson out there. Some say that the pickup is a tonal monster that won't clean up, but I've lowered it from the strings, which has solved that problem. The neck is a typical Gibson bound fret board, which I find much better to play than any Fender Strat. It is a great little guitar that has fast action and is very easy to play. I prefer it to the full archtop for a good range of jazz and blues use. If you find one, try it. You might just love it. I paid $825 for my Nighthawk. Worth more, for sure.

My wife calls it 'The Hot Gypsy', I think she's jealous. I no longer gig so I now use a Roland Cube 30 with the Nighthawk. A perfect combination for home use.

This is my forth guitar and I have stuck with it since I have bought it. First I had two Strats, then a Firebird. I have tries out lots of other guitars and for the price I paid back then, I could not have got anything better. The Nighthawk is timeless!

In my opinion this is a great guitar that was misunderstood when it was introduced. These are no longer made and they have become hard to find, especially in the three pickup incarnation. There are two pickup versions as well. Despite the scarcity of these on the market, he prices have not begun to escalate out of sight yet but that will happen. This guitar was designed to give you a Fender/Gibson experience and it delivers. You can do anything with this where real music is to be produced.

A masterpiece! Kudo's to Gibson on this one. I'm more of a Fender player than a Gibson so the 25 1/2" scale just feels like home. Such a joy to play and it sounds great too. You can't go wrong here. It's my #1 and will stay that way. Goodbye Fender! A classic that will someday be reissued. Mark my words. Amazing guitar.

For experienced guitarists it seems the Gibson Nighthawk is the best for build quality and sound versatility. Perhaps overlooked by many guitarists it is considered to nearly be, the perfect guitar.
