I got this TOPSHOP card when I first turn 18, 12 years ago. It was okay. I got discounts and I could access my account via TOPSHOP store, where the advisor could ring up for the balance. It has always been an expensive card to have, but I found that if I paid it off in the correct time scale all was well. This was when GE CAPITOL ran the store card. Never been able to manage my account online. When I have called customer services, whoever I have spoken to doesn't understand what I'm asking and just keeps repeating the same thing like a robot. As promised when I signed up I have never received any of the so called perks of having a card. I never had any vouchers for joining, don't get preview sale emails or further discount on sales items within the first week. When I first starting using the Topshop card I was in awe as it was my first store card and really helped out paying after getting the item/items. This awe soon ended when it came to having to pay, Topshop make it practically impossible to be able to pay easily (Don't be fooled by the ads as I was). If you get this card, you cannot check your statements online unless you have a very dated version of Internet Explorer, version 7 or below. It will not work on an Android, IPhone, IPad, Safari, Mac, Firefox etc.. Which in this day and age is appalling. You have to call a premium number to get your balance! Wish I could actually give this zero stars as this is really what it deserves. I am so disappointed with the services for this card, have had it for over a year and have never been able to log in to my online account. Customer services can provide no explanation, and charge callers - would have expected a free-phone number from such a large company. I have had my Topshop store card for a number of years and generally have no major issues with this. A massive bugbear for me though is not being able to manage my account online, this appears to have been unavailable for a number of months whilst they "update their site". As a result of this I will now be closing my account - no use to me if I can't have the ease of using the online facility. (read more)

I would not every deal with Santander again!!!!!!!! I have paid off the balance of £132 so I don't have to deal with them. I got a new Miss Selfridge store card and paid the first payment and I realized on the date of next payment that my statement hadn't arrived I phoned up to explain that I haven't received this statement and they were not interested. i moved homes and told them my new address they failed to change it on the system, i gave them direct debit details to set up a direct debit, they failed to do this, i have now incurred over fifty pounds worth of charges and i am not happy. I tried to pay today to be told i needed to pay 69 pounds to bring it up to date and they would not remove any charges although the advisor somehow changed his minds and removed two charges when i made the payment. I just want to shout to the world now and tell the world not to get involved with Santander. They have the most appalling customer service ever. They are big liars and rip offs. They charge you extra for everything. Big lesson learned! Oh Wish I knew and never got a card. opened up the account simply to build up my credit rating. as soon as the card came through the post, i paid off the money i owed from opening up the card, i then bought 2 other things off the card and paid the money back straight away (literally a mattter of 20 minutes and did it in store) but trying to refister my card on the topshop website which is 'simple and easy' according to the assistant, is impossible! all i want to do is view my oustanding balance to see how much money i need to... I have paid my topshop card religiously for the past five years, never missed a payment...yet when I paid on the actual statement date (2nd of March 2012) they have allocated it to the previous statement saying you're not allowed to pay on the statement date...it has to be the day after! Ive had my topshop card for 2 years now and have always had problems with the website. I would try and make a payment and it would tell me it hadnt been successful (nothing to do with my debit card) the past 3 months I have been unable to log in at all!! The website just doesnt load. Its impossible to manage your card, as the online system either doesnt let you log-in or hasnt been updated. The statements are very poorly put together, for example I had a limit of £350 on my card, my online account showed my balance as £176 and my available balance as £450! well that doesnt add up to £350 now does it, i queried it with Indian customer services and they said it was a system error. Got a card due to assistant in store. I got discount of my purchases whoopy do but I have since been hounded for £13.00. More than 20 phone calls over the weekend for this small amount. Yes I forgot to pay my bill but do I really need 20 phone calls to remind me. Really bad customer service. Even when I paid more than my amount I still kept getting phone calls. If I could put no stars for this card I would.
It was the first store card I decided to get - I will never get one again!!
It is not easy to manage online at all, set up direct debits that never came out and they gave me a late payment fees added to my account. Would never log on to account!
It is so difficult to talk to anyone regarding it, I would not suggest anyone get this card, save up and buy it instead!

I'd encourage anyone with a TopShop card to cut it up, and anyone wihtout one not to bother. We took one out for a single purchase in December 2010, and although we paid in full, Santander Cards couldn't trace the payment and have been sending reminders ever since. Just not worth the hassle. Absolutely DO NOT get a topshop card. They do not make it easy for you to pay off your money and so many little traps that once you have finally worked it out there are a dozen different fines.
I only opened up an account because I was buying stuff from Topshop for over 100 pounds and if I got a card then it would save me a % It seemed like a good idea to open it up then close the account once it comes through. Got the card, bought a £13 item but was not allowed to pay until card arrived. Because it was new I forgot and by the time I paid I was apparently 5 days overdue. They slapped a £12 fee on top so now the item was costing me £25.
Because I was too late for my first statement I was convinced I paid for my next one.
To my surprise my next statement had another £12 fee on it.

Awful. Was blatently lied into getting this card via the shop assistant in the Topman Silverburn store("you'll get vouchers in the post and then you can just cut it up" - no, you have to spend £40 on it FURTHER to get vouchers). everytime, i call to make a payment, something will go wrong, they say my dob is invalid, then when i try again its ok. costs a fortune, it is so dragged out. i started to pay direct debit, then realised even though the full amount was paid they were still taking a minimum payment each month. There is no online account management for my topshop card like my statement suggests and when calling up to pay my balance there is silence for about 5 mins on the other side of the line after I put in my account number, therefore running my phone bill up. In the end I had had to hang the phone up 3 times and try again with still no success in paying my bill. I think a lot of the comments on here are unfair, you get your APR written onto your contract as soon as the account is opened, everything is explained properly, it's probably just that people don't take in all the Ts&Cs until they read it in black and white. When my Topshop Store Card arrived I read it all through and I still had well over a month to pay off the balance before any charges were made (56 days in total). I've had my Topshop card for several years. I always paid my card balance in full in the store when I get a statement. I often find the girls who serve me don't have a clue how to do this kind of transaction.
I have had problems on 3 occasions now.
1) I didn't get a statement. That was years ago and after phoning the problem was resolved.

I love my topshop card! I get special card holder priviledges sent with my statements such as percentage of my next order!

My second bill did not arrive. When I did get a bill, they had the temerity to charge a £12 late payment fee as well as interest. The late payment fee was waived when I telephoned to complain but the interest wasn't. The most obvious good point would be that you can use it to buy something you want from the store when you have no money in your bank account! and the fact it can be used in other arcadia group stores such as miss selfridges and dorothy perkins. The whole system is a complete mess, the leaflet which arrives with the card is full of errors. The biggest one being that there is no online account management, you have to call expensive service lines, which may or may not work (though they will connect you to some agent, so the phone call will be charged, of course)! Hi I have a Topshop store card and a lot of the details in your first comment are wrong. The APR is typical variable 19.9%- 24.9% you get 10% for your purchase whilst opening the card if you spend over £40 and 15% if you spend over £80 you also get 3 free internet deliverys and 10% extra off on the first week of the two main sales not to mention getting various offers throughout the year. I understand that I am responsible for my own credit - but looking back now I really wished that I would have said no to the card - and I don't think that shop assistants should offer the card so easily - I think that they should promote the product in different ways and allow people to make a more informed choice - especially where the apr is at. Although staff should give the customer a general description of the accounts charges and payments - it is not up to staff in store to remind a customer they have to pay their card balance in full every month and if they don't they will be charged interest. Topshop now has one of the lowest apr rates on the high street. The staff are fully trained on how to sell accounts but not about the accounts. (read more)

I was given the Topshop store card when I was 17 and it should not have been issued until I was 18. I didn't actually fill out the form personally, it was a young man at the till.
My date of birth was incorrectly put in as 1985 and I was born 1986, so when I phoned up to pay its impossible to do so as I fail the security questions. (read more)

I managed well for a while with my Topshop card, but am now really struggling with it.
As I said in the 'bad points' I can't pay my bill over the phone, I have to go in store and pay for it. These payments take about 7 days to register, so a lot of the time my payments are received late and I'm charged £12, on top of that payment.
The card is a good idea IF you are able to stay on top of it, I thought I'd be able to because I was lured in by the "£4 a month" payments, but doing it that... (read more)

Topshop use promotional discounts to lure naive, often young girls into getting a store card, and they fail to properly impress upon you the value of paying off the total balance monthly to avoid the high interest rate charges. (read more)
