Good Points: Would have been good if they didn't mees up on every possible aspect
Bad Points: Rude, incompetent staff, random charges and items added to our account, and harassment
General comments: The Argos card was easy to apply for, and quite convenient. Or so we thought. We were offered 'buy now, pay 12 months later' scheme in September 2008. In February 2009, we started getting letters telling us the full balance was now due. We made a phonecall to Argos and I spoke to a very rude saleswoman who kept rather annoyingly repeating "you would have been told what the scheme was when you first took out the credit, it's not our mistake". After she repeated this, I kid you not, SIX TIMES, I asked to speak to another staff member who told us this was an error and they would amend our statement. On the next statement, they had added £250 'late payment' charges and informed us we would be contacted by a debt collection agency! Again, after another phonecall, we were told that this was an error and they would send us a letter confirming this. No letter arrived. We THEN, a few weeks later, received a statement which had not only DOUBLED our original credit price, but had added on hundreds of pounds' worth of fees and told us to make the payment immediately and our details had been passed to a debt collection agency! Once again, after a phonecall (and this time also wrote a letter to Argos) I was told this would be sorted immediately and I would receive a letter confirming their error.
After many phonecalls, we have still not received a letter and now we are being plagued on a near daily basis by Argos asking us to pay the balance of our account immediately (our original purchase was £955, the statement now totals near £2,500), and after I insist to them this is their error (after which they INSIST we MUST have used our Argos card for additional purchases), they eventually see that there is an adjustment on another system (?) and both (?) systems aren't showing our correct details. Why are our details on two systems showing conflicting information?? I was then told yesterday that they can't put a note on my account telling them not to harass me, they CAN'T send out a confirmation letter of our correct balance, and that the phonecalls are automated. Unbelievable.
Utter nightmare. Never, ever again will I even breathe in the direction of an Argos card. Stay away.
And so our saga continues.

The Argos store card is a good option if you can control your finances and are disciplined enough to ensure you pay the full balance before the end of the interest free periods. I have purchased a bed, sofa & laptop and always paid the balance before the interest is applied - would not recommend for people have are not on top of their finances as the interest that can be applied is astronomical.

I got my Argos Storecard back in 2005 with a credit limit of £150. Easy to get approved, just fill in some information online and I got it. The problem is I moved home very soon after getting the card and missed a few bills. Before I knew it, I got a call from them telling me that my balance is now over £200, which is over the limit, meaning I get both late and over limit fees.I quickly bring it below the limit and make weekly payments at the Post Office to clear the balance (which ...

I wish i never had the Argos card. It started of ok because i was working. Now it's gone right down the toilet because i've lost my job. Every time i have asked for help no one seems to care. Yes i got rid of the card ages ago but i still got a great amount outstanding.

I got this card about six months ago and have since purchased many things such as a new tv, bed etc, all using the buy now pay later option, this gave me up to 9 months to pay off items such as my tv. which i would have never been able to afford unless using this option, this card is great if you can control your spending on it as you can spread your purchase over many months without being charged interest and as long as you pay the item off before the end of the buy now pay later agreement you ...

I used this card to pay for my baby's things and then purchased some birthday presents but when I try and pay the interest each month is half the minimum payment!

I have used my Argos Store Card a few times, and never have had a problem. The card cracked on the magnetic strip, and I rang customer care for a replacement, which was hassle free, and I had a new card within a few days.

I first got my card in May 2006, and I made a purchase on it using the 6 month buy now pay later option. However, only 2 months after my purchase I received a letter stating I was over my limit, as I had had a deferred charge fault added to my debt for non-payment of my buy now pay later (that wasn't due to be paid back until late November). Eventually, after a number of calls that I had to make to their number, which is a premium rate number, they admitted that I should not have been charged o ...

I have had the Argos Store Card for almost a year now. When I moved house, I forget to inform them, so I missed the bill. A few weeks later they tracked me down and sent me a nasty letter. I had been hit with a load of fees, effectively double what I actually owe them. Now it may have been my fault to forget to inform them of my move, but double the amount??? Well, I have paid them off fully now, and I do not intend to use the card again.

Argos Store Card - Initially seemed like a good idea but it's what they don't tell you that's the problem.

A couple of months ago I was in Argos and they said If I signed up for their card I'd get 10% of what I was buying. I normally can't bothered with these things but as I was buying a TV and I'd save a tenner (It was a bargain of a purchase) it was worth filling in the form, much to the rest of the ques frustration. Anyway I filled it in, got my money off, chose a nice design with a plastic duck on it, and went off to watch my new telly. Turns out I was rejected for the card (at the time I'd ne ...
