Got sucked in to buy Avast! What a mistake! No customer support, no way to reach anyone (just try and call a number if you live in Canada) There are so many hoops to jump through and get you nowhere! They make is sound like you have 24/7 support - but you don't. There is no way to talk to anyone! I was given codes to "activate" the product on 3 computers but there is no way to enter the code. “Avast updates have malware attached”

We have used Avast for 3 years. Avast wanted to do an update, which we allowed. When it finished the update it disabled my internet. I uninstalled Avast on my computer. When I restarted the computer I check and now I had internet available. So I ran an anti-malware program which said everything was good. So I went to reinstall Avast, but the anti-malware program would not let me...stating that the program was infected. My advice, if you have Avast don't update it. “customer service terrible”

I have just tried to cancel my Avast computer software as I was already protected . I was on the phone for 30 minutes when the person tried to sell me some tools for my computer for £80 for removing unwanted files. He was extremely unhelpful and he did not remove the Avast software which I had rang up for them to do . I would not recommend Avast to anyone… Read Full Review

free is not what it seems. I was charged for software that I don't own and when trying to recover my money I'm misled to a site that doesn't exist. I would not recommend avast to anyone. no matter what your situation. as soon the free trial version is up you'll get false warnings of infection on your computer and within a couple of days those false warning become a reality and programs start failing. I got the free one when I had a crash and the computer person put the free one of Avast on. Within a day or so I kept getting pop ups to buy a better version, so I did. Then within a few days I could no longer get online on my computer. I called u-verse thinking that was the problem. They came out and installed all new equipment. Double billed me. After trying to contact them finally got the company on the Internet. After one month a man from Norway answered me on Internet. Told me what to do, which I did not understand but informed me could not refund money. $66.00. Then a year later I was double billed again. Tried to stop funds because I certainly didn't order from them again and by now don't even own the computer but they objected. So another $66.00 for nothing! Be afraid, be very afraid. After waiting 20 min. and then spending 1 1/2 hours with their engineers and being advised the problem was with ATT uverse, and then finding there was no problem with my internet carrier I was led to believe that my NIC card was bad. Went to Best Buy to get a ethernet bypass but discovered that my AVAST antivirus had shut down my internet. I uninstalled it and my computer works fine. “Ripped off”

They automatically took £19.99 from my account, which I didn't know about. I then upgraded to £34.99 unknowing they had already taken money & now have taken another £15.00 I have taken it up with my credit card company & it looks like I am stuck with the extra charges. Avast anti-virus is nothing but a headache. I had to download new software everyday and after paying for a 1 year subscription it end after 4 months. I deleted my services and went with another anti-virus program and request Avast to stop the automatic billing on my credit card. WHEN I HAD A PROBLEM, THEY WANTED $119 APPROX FOR 1 TIME TAKE OVER MY COMPUTER. THE NEXT TIME I TURNED IT ON, OFFICE DEPOT SAID IT WAS DEAD. A COMPUTER GEEK TOLD ME THEY GAVE ME A VIRUS. For anyone considering Avast: I now have six (6) months of TRYING to cancel the auto-billing for Avast SecureLine privacy browsing. Last email came from someone-their support??- in the Czech Republic. It has been weeks after the latest ticket was submitted. “Refund or cancel service? Good luck.”

It was fine while it was free. I had some issues with my PC and decided to buy the Grimefighter. It froze for a few hours. I called to get my money back and they offered a year of "Avast Total Support" for $179.99. I know. I should have known. I had nothing but good service from Avast till then and trusted their expertise. I mentioned that I was getting a blue screen every few days. They said they could fix it. Downloaded the FREE software to burn a Boot Disc for an infected computer- followed the steps and received an AVAST error message that a boot disc could not be created. Called the FREE 24/7 support and was told 1. If I didn't speak to a "Premium" technician then the infected computer could erase the product key and there was "no way whatsoever" to recover that and I would have to repurchase windows. 2. I have spent 2 days trying to cancel my auto-renewal and have been unsuccessful. I have paid for their software for 2 years without using it.
