Good Points: Inexpensive, comprehensive kit, low noise, versatility.
Bad Points: Limited receiver capacity
General comments: Primarily intended to power a compressed air nailer, the Performance Power Air Compressor itself is worth the purchase price (ninety pounds). Supplied with a 1/4" bsp connection, it can be adapted to power a host of air tools, such as drills, ratchets, DA sanders, paint sprayers and so forth.
Many smaller compressors are loud, this one is notably quieter, the large cooling fan creating much of the noise.
Maximum pressure is 125psi, a small gauge sited on the outlet valve displaying the receiver pressure. Air volume output is 8cfm, which is ample for DIY requirements, and will provide enough power for all but the largest air tool.
The nailer supplied with the kit is of limited application, but the kit is worth buying just for the compressor.
Build quality is good throughout, being let down only slighty by the plastic outlet valve lever, which feels quite flimsy.
Interestingly enough, the compressor is actually manufactured by SIP group, notable for good build quality, and good spares back-up.
Having owned and used one regularly, I can assure you that reliability is second to none, and being an oilless compressor, requires only minor maintenance (namely bleeding off water from the receiver).
For the keen DIY mechanic or automotive enthusiast, this compressor kit fits the bill superbly.
