“Customer Service - terrible”

There were problems with my panasonic lumix - this has been the worst retail experience ever and I am aged 56 so have in my years had quite a bit of experience with the retail trade. 4 month old camera had the lens replaced and returned a further two times but no fault diagnosed. Problems with the picture quality, pictures overexposing, but Jessops insisted nothing was wrong advising. I ordered Cannon Camera online to collect from local Jessops. Before that I phoned customer service and asked about VAT refund form. Customer service told me that you can get it from store. When I asked to store to provide me VAT refund form, the salesman and manager told me that I can't have it as I placed order online. Then I phoned customer service to send me one by post, but they show their inability to send me one. All liers are at Jessops. Never go there. (read more)

“Calendars and photobooks”

I have bought calendars from Jessops for three years now and having also had some produced for family too have never been disappointed. Delivery to store is free and if you catch them while there is a deal on they are very good value - 50% off. The photo books I have ordered too have been of a high standard and I would recommend both of these products to anyone. Once again there are often deals to take advantage of. Totally agree. I have been purchasing their small photo books for years - great quality and in particular the flexibility of including as many photos as you want on each page. I regularly had 4 per page and up to 8 on occasions - at no extra charge. Does anyone know any other company that gives you the same flexibility now that Jessops have gone. Any I have tried so far limit you to one photo per page - mean. I will seriously miss Jessops.

“Don't buy a product, print a photo!”

My husband bought us a small digital camera from Jessops for a trip to Turkey after our old camera had expired! That bit was surprisingly easy! It wasn't until we got to Turkey and took some pics that we noticed a blurry fingerprint in the centre of all of our photos. The camera also had a mind of it's own and kept switching itself on and off, most annoying when trying to take a picture! “Terrible XXL poster print ”

I ordered print of professional photo, which has a lot of details in a shadow. When it finally arrived, after 9 days, it was terrible, picture is too dark and all details in shadow areas are lost. This was big disappointment as my uploaded photo was in great condition, prepared directly by the photographer, and looked great at his exhibition. On top of this print was 1cm bigger (51 x 71 cm), so it would not fit the standard frame without extra cutting. I will not buy any prints from Jessops... (read more)

I popped into Jessops in Market Street Manchester yesterday afternoon to buy a Canon 550d for my wife. This was probably the worst retail experience I have had since I was in Bulgaria 15 years ago. I did use this shop a lot for printing and then wanted a camera, thinking the staff would know what a camera was...nope! The staff knew nothing about SLR camera at all. I ask a staff member ( the manager ) what was a good wide lens and he told me just to go for a 55- 200 an all rounder, its better then a 35mm 2.8. SHOCKED! Travelled 87 miles and 87 miles back to Jessops at Meadowhall, Sheffield after reserving a Panasonic FZ150 online the previous day. Got there and was told they only had the display model, and they couldn't sell me that, despite it being advertised online. Have e-mailed Customer Services (THREE times) and sent a letter, but have received no reply after a week. Maybe a High Street store but they are far worse than most online camera stores. Just did some digging, Jessops CEO (name removed) left the company and has joined HMV. Jessops have gone into liquidation before but were bought up by Snap Equity, however it now looks like our wish to rid the world of these vermin could be going to come true very soon.

I had my heart set on a Panasonic HCX900M camcorder and although other sites had it cheaper, Jessops offered 10 months interest free credit on it, plus £50 cash back. I placed the order and was approved for credit and the deposit was charged to my card. “Overpriced, dark photo prints”

Had a generally poor experience. Ignored in store whilst using the self-service photo machine despite looking around for help (wasn't sure about the sizes I wanted). Only once through the whole selection process it informs me every one of the photos has to be cropped in some way. Ok. Years ago Jessops was the place to buy equipment, but they appear to be unable to compete in the internet ago. Despite the appalling reviews I'd read, I decided to buy from them as the product I wanted was on special offer and they offered the best price. I am a professional photographer and twice I have bought DSLR cameras from Jessops, only to discover that the shutter actuation on both cameras were in their hundreds. For anyone who is not familiar with shutter actuation, it is like the millometer on a car. a brand new camera MUST have a shutter actuation of ZERO. they clearly re-sell cameras that people have used and returned! Jessops have a three price policy - one in their advert book, one online and one in the shop - God knows what you'll end up paying. AVOID them and pay more at an independent retailer- where the price you see is the price you pay.

“Photo printing/developing is now very poor/”

Not a lot to say really except that I've never seen a company get an order so wrong. Ordered 22 6 x4 and 2 7x5. Received 19 various sized photos ranging from the bizarre 5.3" x 4" to the widescreen 7"x 4". I've only ever used Jessops twice, and both times they managed to get my order wrong. Recently I visited one of the Jessops shops on Croydon high street, Surrey and found a Sony Handycam on display for price of £94.99 (original price £189.99, too good to believe!).
