My experience with Paypal was horrendous. They have been holding my money (over £1,000) for over two months, insisting that they needed proof of identity in the form of a photograph. They already had a lot of sensitive information about me, so I refused (on the advice of my bank) because of security concerns. They refused to release the account unless I sent a photo. They could not tell me how they would use the photo (they have never seen me, or my photo) I am convinced they planned to steal my identity. I did get my money back in the end - all I really needed was a number.

***** NEVER, NEVER USE PAYPAL TO PROTECT YOU ******

You will have more luck getting protected by a 2 year old than by paypal.

I bought a glass vase (plus other items) from ebay and payed through paypal,
the item then came smashed in thousands of pieces. I contacted paypal to resolve the matter - after a few weeks they contacted my stating that i had to post (due to no companies where i live) the item off to a repair company and get them to check the item and write a report/quote to them con ...

I cannot believe it, 10 June bought a fuel injection pump advertised as having been Bosch overhauled on Ebay. Told vendor I would only pay via PayPal. Received PayPal invoice paid including deposit on my pump. Pump arrived damaged - 2nd pump arrived not overhauled. PayPal now claims it was bought OFF Ebay - they are not sure about the price (I sent photo of the offer and two similar by the vendor and also the pumps) 31 July received a call from PayPal and after discussion I was told I would be r ...

All the focus is on ebay but they do little to protect. PayPal is just not worth the money.

Paypal is a complete waste of time, do not use if you want informative competent advise or service, I sent an item sold on ebay and the buyer complained after 2 days that he hadn't received the item, I sent the buyer and paypal a copy of the proof of postage receipt with buyers address printed and confirmed. from what the buyer had told me it was clear he was not telling the truth, but never the less, even though paypal had confirmed receiving the postage receipt, they found against me and refun ...

Very little security for merchants who, via the Paypal system, are at the mercy of their customers.

I purchased using Paypal from a website claiming to be a genuine website and paid through Paypal believing that It was safe. Unfortunately it wasn't. After finding out that the website was fake, I hoped Paypal would help me get my money back but they were abrupt and so unhelpful and basically claimed they may have helped if I purchased the item from Ebay, so why claim that paypal is a safe way of payment outside ebay and do they not do a check on these sites before they allow them to use Paypa ...

P[LEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE , DO NOT, DO NOT!!! USE PAYPAL

Paypal has a terrible policy, which doesn't protect selles against fraud. I sold my computer through ebay, the guy paid with a card through paypal and after a while requested the money back and paypal simply gave it back to him. I lost my computer and the money. Paypal was most unhelpful and left me to pay the debit in my account. After a while they sent a letter from a debt collector. I had to pay the £150 and still they left a nega ...

    No buyer protection with Paypal.
I bought 2 DVDs using my Paypal account. the goods were counterfeit and of poor quality so I contacted seller who failed to respond.
Lodged a dispute and esculated claim with paypal, it took them less than 5 minutes to decide I had no right to a refund,
    Paypal protection non existant.

I find Paypal to be an over complicated system that favours merchants and does not protect the consumer in any way shape or form. It is very important to remember that Paypal was originally established for ebay users and is actually owned by ebay. Thus the logistics of how it works is very much based upon the law regarding auctions and auction sites which is vague at best and has little comparison to Statutory Rights associated with High Street shopping.
For example, I ordered a bag pack for my ...

Paypal didn't really resolve my problems. I made a purchase and the goods were damaged when I received them, the seller was abusive and Paypal did...NOTHING.

I use paypal on ebay, both for selling and purchasing items, and on several other websites. I have never had a bad experience with them, and have been using them for 5 years.
If a seller fails to deliver goods paid for via paypal, it will launch proceedings and ensure that you are refunded. While this can take a while, it is good to know that you are fully covered.

We have had a paypal account for a number of years and find that it's a great way of paying for things through ebay with a credit card or funds in the paypal account.
The big problem with paypal though is that it keeps getting more expensive all the time to receive payments and I can't transfer my paypal funds to your bank until you have £50 or more in your paypal account, this is another thing that lets paypal down, you receive a payment but can't touch it until you reach £50 so t ...

Expensive for me and in my experience the service was slow and in my opinion unreliable, sometimes unhelpful customer support I feel too.
If there is another option for sending / receiving funds available to you then it is most likely better. Therefore I do not recommend PayPal.com.

From my own research/findings, PayPal customer support: Are helpful 10% of the time. Mis-read your e-mail 15% of the time. Provide half-effort advice 50% of the time. And then sometimes (25% of the time) I receive no reply at all. PayPal services are good, but not when things go wrong - their customer service can't be relied upon.

I've used Paypal for about four years and never had a problem. The only incident I've had is when a bought a laptop from someone and it never arrived. Paypal quickly dealt with it and refunded my payment. I sell quite a lot on Ebay and do find Paypal charges rather excessive. On the whole quite a decent service but you have to beware of scammers and charges.

It worked out more than double payments of Nat West Credit Card when interest would be applied. Extremely high min payment without interest for me. Double once again. Do not recommend Pay Pal.com

I never got the CD I ordered from an Indie label as far as I am aware. When I contacted paypal, I was unable to contact anyone from customer service: they gave a phone number which was a long distance for me, so after waiting about 10 minutes, I hung up. I wanted to write an email, but the only way you write to them is by fiiling out a formn they have. But the problem is, you have to select a category. The categories are the contrary of intuitive. I could not figure out what category I fell unde ...
