I'm now owning my second pointer. My first was very patient with my son when he was learning to walk and never complained about him hanging onto various parts of her body. They do need plenty of exercise but I have always found mine eager to please but at the same time to intelligent to perform meaningless tasks like fetch. I would not hesitate to take something out of my dogs mouth. The main problem is an under exercised pointer that becomes bored and destructive.

Our Shorthair Pointer was running loose in the country and my brother and I decided to give him a home. We quickly found out why he was a stray - he has serious issues. His owners couldnt stand him or he couldnt stand them - I'm not sure which. I would NOT recommend taking on an adult - particularly if you know nothing of its history. Generally very friendly, but this breed constantly tests its place in the pecking order, and must not be allowed to think it is the pack leader.

Active, love long woodland walks, as well as trying to curl up on your lap!...I'm convinced they think they are Yorkies!. I currently have a five year old liver and white, whom I bought at 20weeks, and ...
