Processing a claim with WPA was painfully slow, everyone we spoke with said something different, they seem pretty chaotic and having confirmed that they had all the paperwork they sat on our claim without processing it. When we rang to find out why it was taking so long they said they didn't have the right claim form from us. When we proved that they did have it they then changed their reason to say that they didn't have a referral letter from us. We pointed out that they'd sent us a letter… Read Full ReviewCompare healthcare providers - Visit ActiveQuote.com

After waiting 3 months for them to process my claim, they refused to pay out as they stated it is a pre-existing condition. This is due to a visit to the doctor following a accident on one knee several years ago. I have in the last 9 months developed problems with the other knee and have a diagnosis which is caused by wear and tear which requires surgery. Both the GP that saw me several years ago and my current surgeon have written to WPA and advised them the 2 are not linked. But the WPA Chief… Read Full ReviewCompare healthcare providers - Visit ActiveQuote.com

I am a health professional and have no idea why people would pay to be part of this company. Rude, unprofessional, inefficient at responding to queries. You will literally have to chase every payment from them. Luckily left within 1 year and would never go back… Read Full ReviewCompare healthcare providers - Visit ActiveQuote.com

Okay first of all, I'll begin by giving some background into what some of the OTHER big name insurers are doing...and why you might want to avoid them. Top of my "do not got there list" is BUPA, who cut their reimbursments for many procedures by around 40-50% last year and who appear to pay the lowest rates in the market now, often leaving patients with substantial shortfalls. More worringly, some insurers (like BUPA) have certain policies where you can ONLY be treated by a specialist who… Read Full ReviewCompare healthcare providers - Visit ActiveQuote.com

I have had a policy for many years with WPA, when I changed the type of policy on their advice, a number of conditions they had previously covered became pre-existing ( on the new policy ) and therefore no longer covered. They would not let me revert to the old type of policy as I was now considered to be a new member in spite of being with them for 30 odd years! I think this is sharp practise because they gave no warning of the effect of changing the policy… Read Full ReviewCompare healthcare providers - Visit ActiveQuote.com

I got a private health insurance with WPA for 6 months, unfortunately an urgent health problem had to be treated. My GP was great and got a referral on the same day and the hospital got an appointment for 1 week after. I called WPA for getting the authorization number and have been badly abused over the phone in a moment that I am worried with my health. The service is terrible (even worst than buba - I had buba for 2 years) and they did not authorize the appointment and send me a huge… Read Full ReviewCompare healthcare providers - Visit ActiveQuote.com

WPA sent their representative to my home to encourage me buy the insurance from them. As their representative is in fact a franchisee, they benefit directly from selling to you. They misguide you and make you think you're entering into a good deal! But don't trust them! All they are concerned about is earning their share of your joining in fee! I deeply regret leaving my previous insurer and am going to end my policy with WPA! I have lost my rights to fully underwritten insurance policy with… Read Full ReviewCompare healthcare providers - Visit ActiveQuote.com

I have this medical policy through my employer who have clearly found the cheapest value for money policy in order to reduce operating costs. My first claim with WPA completely contradicted their brochure, 'relax think about getting better let us do the work' is a lie, you will have to do all the running round. The telephone staff probably know their job but assume so does everyone else, expect half a tale and delays to your treatment. If you are not getting the level of service required kick… Read Full ReviewCompare healthcare providers - Visit ActiveQuote.com

I Switched to WPA after hearing that thier customer service was their key selling point, no call centres overseas and a competative price to the other main health insurance providers out there. i have to say after making a claim its was authorised straight away, friendly and i like the fact they have a local representative that can come out to assist you if i was unable to do the claim properly, definatly recommend them if your looking at buying Health Insurance… Read Full ReviewCompare healthcare providers - Visit ActiveQuote.com

Good: - Relatively cheap. Bad: - Please take care to decide what to declare on your health form; it excluded me from making claims FOREVER arising from a SINGLE VISIT to a GP 2 years ago, where the symptom was cured by an one-day medication. The fact that the symptom never re-occurred was irrelevant to them. They just want to 'play safe' I guess. If you paid GP a visit some 1.8 years ago you might as well wait until the 2 years declaration period is up before you apply. - Poor… Read Full ReviewCompare healthcare providers - Visit ActiveQuote.com

I found they answered the phone quick enough but each time they say something different...., which led me to have 9 cessions at my therapist unpaid. Read your booklet carefully and follow every steps as they will use anything for not paying. I wouldn't recommend them at all, I'm very desapointed. … Read Full ReviewCompare healthcare providers - Visit ActiveQuote.com

Recently my husband had to go into hospital and from start to finish the claims process exceeded all expectations as the staff are in the UK and attend to detail. He was even called by the anaesthetist and WPA after the minor operation to see if they could be of any further assistance. Be very careful of choosing the cheapest Health Insurance. WPA have been in business since 1901. They are impressive… Read Full ReviewCompare healthcare providers - Visit ActiveQuote.com

My family and I have been covered by WPA for near on 7 years now. I agree they are not the cheapest, but I have had the cheapest in the past and that is what I got.
I do like the fact that they have local representatives that you can call if you have a question. My adviser does contact me every year anyway, which is great.
I have always found the call centre helpful and when my wife had to go for treatment they helped every step of the way to make sure all claims were sorted.
Excellent… Read Full Review

WPA health insurance pay claims quickly, very helpful staff, nothing too much trouble. Good to deal with, very helpful, pay my claims quickly, not the cheapest, but one of the best. Pre-existing conditions not covered, but why should they? I don't ask my car insurer to cover my car if it's already on fire!… Read Full ReviewCompare healthcare providers - Visit ActiveQuote.com

I found that they declined to pay my claim even though I had telephoned them on numerous occasions to check that I was covered for this particular treatment before going ahead with the treatment.First they tell me that I am covered and then change their mind.

Despite the fact I telephoned on numerous occasions to check that my policy covered a cortisone injection and was told on every occasion it did, when the claim was sent in, WPA Health Insurance didn't pay out, and no reason was given which means more telephone calls and waiting stacked for somebody to answer, each time somebody different..to find out why it wasn't paid.
You get the feeling that WPA just look for reasons, excuses to avoid paying out, even though I still pay 25% of the claim… Read Full Review Compare healthcare providers - Visit ActiveQuote.com
