I purchased a LV Totally MM bag and in less than a year the strap snapped right off. I took it to the LV store in Saks on 5th Ave in NYC and was told there was indeed a quality issue with the straps on the Totally MM. They exchanged if for me on the spot and assured me that the issue had been resolved. I should have asked for a different style because in less than a year after that the strap started to tear again in the same place as the first. This time they replaced the strap. I walked... I bought a L.V. Galiera less then a year ago and the strap has come apart 3 times. The gold ring, holding the strap, has a small pin that has come out, and each time I go to the store, they send it in for "repair" I saved for a long time to purchase this bag and it just shocks me that for $1,600.00, the customer service is so bad! Over the last 25 years I have had 6 speedys, four defective. This last bag which they did give as an exchange cracked just like two others. San Francisco lv would not exchange it saying it was used, of course I used it there is no warranty on lv bags. I had stored the bag correctly for about a year since I have other handbags so I don't even know when this one cracked. I ordered a mens wallet from this website and received the incorrect one. After emailing them a photo of the incorrect wallet along with my order confirmation confirming that the wallet I received was not the one I ordered, they failed to get back to me. I bought my Louis about three years ago under the impression that it would look better with age and never fall apart and even if it did they would stand behind the product! They fabricated marks on the bag and sent it back, a very generic form letter. The bag was in perfect condition and was out of the box twice before deciding to return...they said they had photos but could not release them to me....VERY SUSPECT as the purse had NO marks at all! My husband purchased a bag and wallet for me in December, 2009. I have not used this bag daily and it is in perfect condition EXCEPT for the handle strap. The leather on the strap has frayed to the point that it is attached by only a few stitches. I own several higher end LV handbags and they are not the entry level type. Due to high demand by tourist and locals alike, they don't seem to care about the customer service anymore. I don't use them often and have noticed some stitching coming off, a tiny section of the leather cracked, some discolouration at the gold zipper. I own many, many L.V. Bags, briefcases,wallets etc. So I was totally blown away when I returned my Mom's wallet ( I bought her for a gift 3 years ago) an area of stitching had come out where it holds the credit cards, I thought no problem I paid a lot of money and I am sure they will repair it, WRONG. Beware before you purchase a Louis Vuitton! I have a Totally MM that I purchased 8/10. The canvas began to crack so I sent it in for repair/evaluation. Long story short they told me it was not covered due to excessive use. To make matter worse the store employee (Kevin in Raleigh, NC) handed me the paper work to review and as I was reading it I began to flip to the next page. I have a Louis Vuitton wallet that I purchased a few years ago that seldom use. In January of 2011 I took it to the store in Beverly Hills to have the snap replaced. The worst customer service ever. I have shopped at the majority of shops in Toronto's Yorkville and never experienced such a hassle.
The accused my husband, a physician, of having two stolen credit cards and secretly tried to hide the fact that they called the credit card company. They never once asked for picture ID nor explained what the hold up was for. It was my 30th birthday and they held us up for 45minutes, keeping all of my bday guests waiting at the restaurant and incurring us...

Overall, I have had excellent performance from my Louis Vuitton Handbags. I'm glad I bought them way back when because the price keeps spiraling up. The LV bags have held up way better than my Fendi's, which have cracked and become useless. I had to give a satchel and an envelope bag away because they were nearly gooey with age. (read more)

I've also wanted an LV bag since the 80's and decided to just go for it in 2006. I bought the Speedy 30 and the Groom Series (with the hotel porter) wallet. I love the wallet and it has worn pretty well. There is some deterioration of the red stripe - but I use it everyday so that's OK.
I use my Speedy purse maybe 20% of the time.
First of all - I bought it in 2006 and paid $620. That bag is now $700. The dollar has depreciated against the euro, but really, a 12% increase for a canvas...

I confess: This year I ordered a fake Louis Vuitton over the Internet. Instantly I felt guilty the moment I placed my order. It's not that it is illegal in the US to buy replica designer handbags. Nothing can be perfect all the time, LV guarantees their items and I'm sure will make it good if a flaw is discovered. Also, just because the bag was made in USA doesnt mean it isnt of the same quality that bags made in Spain or France are made of. If you are unhappy, take it back! Buy a lesser value bag that you can complain about.

Any Louis Vuitton piece with the any sort of monogram canvas is horrible, except for the luggage. Personally, I consider LV too expensive, but neither am I filthy rich; thus, I'd leave LV for them - there are other brands out there making good quality bags with more affordable prices. Seriously, buying a Speedy and then eating potato peels for the next 6 months is pathetic, and I won't even start talking about buying counterfeits!

The thing that is super about Louis Vuitton is that it represents a high class luxury fashion house. If you look at a Louis Vuitton up close and see all the stiches perfectly done, the superb job printing the monogram canvas, and the timeless look that it carries. It's a dream. For me carring a Louis Vuitton on my arm gives me confidence! I think it is priceless for a girl to have confidence from a handbag.

Good Points:
I love what Marc Jacobs has done with Louis Vuitton, particularly with LV clothing. He's taken a certain irreverency and given it a very chic perspective. The specialty bags such as the Cherises, Denims, & Murakami's are also a nice addition to the iconic and historical brand.
Bad Points:
Besides the clothing all the decent bags, note the word decent, are "trend" bags. The are a very hot bag for 4-5 months, then millions of reproductions are made, and then the fashion crowd...
