Should have been how to survive trying to book the day. Very unhelpful staff who can't understand why its a problem to only be able to give one date in 5 months. Apparently its our fault we couldn't make the first date. They claim to have new dates every 2 weeks but this is not the case. Unless you have nothing else at all in your life to book round I would not recommend buying a product from this company. Very disappointing. (read more)

Should have been a Spa day? What a load of rubbish. No Spa, a swimming pool full of children. Only thing my friend and I attended was a exercise class which was ok but certainly not what it said it was. I do not blame the centre as I don't think they knew what the voucher was. The voucher was a gift for a Spa Day, I don't know what it cost but I can guess it turned out to be an expensive exercise class in not a good enviroment. This was the only available venue for me within about a 30... (read more)

I am sorry to hear that you are no longer in possession of the gift receipt.
Regrettably, we would need to see some form of proof of purchase, either a copy of the receipt or a bank statement, as this is a requirement agreed by the retailer before we can register your voucher pack.
The purchaser should have been made aware at time of purchase to retain this. I would advise going into your local store to see if they are able to provide you with an item of proof of purchase.
We can now accept a note from the store on headed paper to say they are unable to locate the sale but to confirm it was purchased from them.
I am very sorry that I cannot be of further assistance on this occasion.

I have contacted trading standards regarding this ( reference number AW 11001955) who tell me that - “ A trader does not have to provide a receipt by law “ and state your terms and conditions are unfair - as this was a gift and we do not have the receipt.
They expect you to carry out the contract and to provide me with the tickets or preferably my money back.
Very few of your gifts are available in Wales either hence the request to exchange it for an afternoon tea in Cardiff which was one of the only local things available to us.
Do you seriously believe you are offering your customers a good service having to keep receipts for the gift recipient as well as giving them the gift package? Madness surely the fact that they have the package is proof of purchase?? This gift package contains a long code that has to be sent to Activity superstore to even get there voucher its so long winded!!! This company should then have a record of who sold this anyway?? Its madnessWhy should I now have to go back to my Argos store to get them to sign a piece of headed paper saying that it was purchased off them?
They certainly wont know my stepson without his receipt they will be signing it willy nilly anyway!
This is just some sort of annoying daft exercise to irritate people so much they dont bother hence lining Activity Superstores pockets again! As I said earlier stay away !! Book your own experience its much less complex!

I am very sorry to hear that your voucher had expired before you came to use it. The length of time that you get to use the voucher depends entirely on when it was purchased and from which retailer.
The voucher could have been purchased from one of our retailers in store. The experience ranges launch in August/September and will have an expiry date for the following year. For example, if an experience was purchased between September 2011 – August 2012 these packs would be valid until 1st December 2012. However, if an experience was purchased in October 2012, it would be valid until the 1st December 2013. This is the timetable chosen by the retailer and they are fully aware of when the vouchers expire. The expiry dates are clearly printed on the outside of the box and on the enclosed registration card.
If the voucher was purchased directly through ourselves they hold a minimum of 9 months validity, unless they are on promotion and the expiry date is clearly visible at the point of sale.
All of our vouchers have set expiry dates which are printed on them. I am sorry if any of this information was not made clear to yourself.
The terms and conditions that you receive with your voucher pack show that you can extend your voucher for a period of 6 months for a £20 fee this excludes promotions, however, the voucher must be booked and taken by the new date and can only be extended once it has been registered and is still valid.
I am sorry if you have not received a reply to your emails, we do reply to all emails within 48 hours. If you would please forward your emails your together with your voucher/ registration number to customerreview@activitysuperstore.com and I will gladly look in the situation.

I am very sorry to hear that your received a Christmas present which had already expired. The length of time that you get to use the voucher depends entirely on when it was purchased and from which retailer.
There are three scenarios in which this could have resulted with your experience having an expiry date of the 1st December 2012.
1 - The voucher was purchased from one of our retailers in store. Their experience ranges launch in August/September and will have an expiry date for the following year. For example, if an experience was purchased in between September 2011 - August 2012 these packs would be valid until 1st December 2012. However, if an experience was purchased in October 2012, it would expire on 1st December 2013. This is the timetable chosen by the retailer and they are fully aware of when the vouchers expire. The expiry dates are clearly printed on the outside of the box and on the registration card enclosed. Regrettably somebody has given you an expired gift.
2 - The voucher was purchased directly through ourselves. Vouchers purchased directly through ourselves hold an minimum validity of 9 months, unless they are on promotion and the expiry date is clearly visible at the point of sale.
3 - The expiry date could be an error in printing.
If you would please email your contact details together with your voucher/ registration number to customerreview@activitysuperstore.com and I will gladly look in the situation and give you an answer as to which of the above have occurred.

The £15 voucher was a joke - it covered the cost of our calls to your 0871 number and not much more.
What I suggest you do for the benefit of the users of this site is clearly list what we get for our £99 with the respective value of each.
I very much hope that I am proved wrong - if not I think a cash refund of the difference - plus a refund of the approximately £10 I paid for calls to your premium rate number - might be appropriate.

We do offer that if the experience is not suitable it can be exchanged to another product up to the same value within the same retail range free of charge.

I am very sorry to hear you have experienced difficulties when trying to register your activity. All of our registration cards have set expiry dates which are printed on them. The terms and conditions that you receive show that you must register and have completed your experience prior to the expiry date.
As the experience officially had to be completed by the 1st December 2012, registering close to this date would have resulted in customers not having time to do this. Therefore as a gesture of good will we were allowing customers a grace period on completing or the option to extend their experience until the 28th December 2012.

First, I still have the box. It clearly states Whether you fancy a COMEDY, drama or a musical, you are bound to find something to guarantee an entertaining night out. (The funniest thing on the sparce list you sent me was Dry Rot at Woking theatre The dearest 'best seats available 'tickets i was allowed to have were £28 each so we were informed we would lose the other £44 vaue as we werent allowed to carry any over and we werent allowed to use just one of the £50 vouchers and get 2 £20 tickets
2nd, You've tried to mislead again, you just stated that again very similar to the box that the ambassador Theatre group has a total of 38 (my box says 39) such as the Apollo victoria where currently the hit musical wicked is showing(mine say Sayoy and Apollo and stage a wide variety of shows to suit the tastes of any audience). It MISLEADS people buying a gift to think that the voucher will be available for those shows. You should state after it on the BOX - however, this voucher will not be eligible for these shows (or even better - state this voucher is only available for the shows we cant shift seats for)
3rd, You stated The theatre Freedom Voucher is a £50 voucher to put towards selected tickets for a fantastic show. On my boxes it states A £50 voucher to SPEND (not put towards) at a choice of theatres across the uk. it also states total flexibility and is easy to use. Well it actually takes several phone calls before you get you vouchers and then several more to get the 'selected list' of shows which you allowed to view. Then you have to check out every theatre within reach (and they are all miles away) to find out the dates they are showing because you dont even get that!
Lastly , Its not until you get the vouchers that you see the words your voucher may be used as part payment towards more expensive seats and shows. But even that is misleading as it should say MUST be used, not MAY be used and this should have been obvious to the buyer, not only divulged once you have the vouchers. And if there is a choice of hundreds of shows and seats, and you choose to not let people use their vouchers against them but pick out only certain shows and seats - then I dont call that Theatre Freedom, I call that restricted choice! People dont buy book vouchers as gifts so that the recipicent tries to use it and get told you cant have any on the shelves, only the expensive ones which have no high demand and we need another £50 off you! And that is what you get with Activity superstore - absolute rubbish!

My wife and I were given this voucher for a restaurant discovery (for two). It was bought last December for us and we got around to registering it in July. The voucher arrived by the end of July, with an expiry date of 1st December, so we only had 4 months validity to the voucher. My wife had a major operation to remove a bone tumour in August and was incapacitated until mid-October. I arranged the meal at The Garden Room, Best Western Grosvenor Hotel, Stratford on Avon, with activity... (read more)

WARNING TO ANYONE WHO IS THINKING OF BUYING ONE OF THESE "GIFT EXPERIENCES" READ THIS FIRST. I have now bought two of these intangible "gifts" but I will NEVER buy another one. In my opinion, they are a total rip off! Firstly there are numerous limitations and conditions which just create expense and disappointment, as opposed to pleasure. Secondly some activities are seasonal, or subject to weather conditions and they are ALL “subject to availability” - so you may have to wait months... (read more)

Forgot to say that even after paying the extra £20, Activity Superstore STILL couldn't confirm the booking 'cos their system was down. They promised to call me back urgently, but, surprise, surprise, 3 days later, I had heard nothing. So I sent them a nice e-mail (!) telling them that I had put some reviews on the internet. And what do you know, they called back me and are now saying they won't process my £20, provided I accept the first slot at Silverstone - WHICH JUST HAPPENS TO BE at 7.40 A.M.! This is a stupidly early start, given the travelling distance and, from their tone, I sspect I was supposed to reject this offer and let them keep my £20, but, ha! ha! I didn't. I would rather give the money to a nearby hotel for an overnight stay than give any more to this lot!
I see that, overall, Activity Supertstore don't even rate two stars out of five, but, judging from the number of terrible reviews on here, if there was an option to award NO stars (which I think there should be) this lot wouldn't even make ONE star in their overall rating.
LESSON LEARNED!! But think I might just direct Trading Standards to this site.

I am very sorry to hear that you were unable to use your gift voucher before the expiry date. All of our vouchers have set expiry dates which are printed on them.
The terms and conditions contain all the restrictions of the voucher and clearly state that the voucher must be used while it is still in season or before the expiry date.
You can extend your voucher for a period of 6 months for a fee of £20 but this does exclude promotional vouchers. The voucher must be booked and taken by the new date.
I am sorry if any of this information was not made clear to yourself.

As a little treat my daughters thought it would be nice that my partner and I could have an afternoon tea(£20-00 voucher value), we have had a lot on this year so have been anticipating to use it in the run up to Christmas. Didn't realise that the girls had brought it at the beginning of December so on the 4th when noticing I rang Activity and asked to extend the expiry date which they said I could have a six month extension but at a cost of £20-00, £20-00 to extend a £20-00 voucher. Thanks for the courtesy of a response but I feel you have missed the point, my voucher was for £20-00, I had missed the date by three days when contacting you and I would have reluctantly accepted your agents decision that the expiry date had been passed. What I have a problem with is when asking if possible to extend the validity of the voucher I was told yes, excellent I thought until I was informed there would be a £20-00 charge and that would extend for a further six months, why would I pay £20-00 to extend a £20-00 voucher for six months when if I so desired I could buy a twelve month valid one for the same £20-00. After reading so many other negative comments about your company then I feel I am not alone in thinking my advice to others to avoid was the correct thing to do.

I am very sorry to hear that you were unable to use your gift voucher.
Our vouchers do need to have a Gift receipt with them for the gift to be registered. This should have been advised when buying the gift that the gift receipt does need to be kept and this information is also printed in the terms and conditions on the gift itself. I am sorry if this information was not made clear to yourself. We would advise to go back to the store where purchased and obtain another gift receipt or we also accept a copy of the bank statement.

My husband and I purchased 2 vouchers for 'Ultimate Gift experience' last December. The booklet boosted many activities based in over 100 locations, in reality none of the activities were near to where we live in East Anglia or in London where we often stay at the weekend. I had a fantastic time at the london aquarium with my partner, my sister in law also purchased a voucher for her and her son and they were also surprised at the fast delivery. and yes. my voucher did arrive after the day i purchased and it was sent first class. everyone is different and have there own personal preferences. if you have nothing nice to say on my post do not say it at all.

You can purchase vouchers for Activity Superstore Experience in two different ways, either directly through our website or from one of our retailer partners.
The retail experience ranges launch in August/September and will have an expiry date for the following year. These experiences do have to be registered in order to obtain a voucher, as we are unaware of the sale until this part of the process takes place. The need for a receipt is a step put in place by some of the retailers and they are fully aware of when the vouchers expire.
When a voucher is purchased directly through ourselves for a specific experience we can of course dispatch the voucher as we already hold all of the customers details. We do dispatch these vouchers free of charge by 1st Class Royal Mail post and they general arrive the next working day. This does change if the customer has purchased a choice box as the customer will need to register their choice of experience in order to obtain the correct voucher.
We do have on our website honest and impartial reviews of our products, collated by an independent review centre called ‘Reevoo’. Our feedback shows that overall 91 % of our customers would buy from Activity Superstore again.
Kindest Regards

Ok, my sister has emailed as per the representatives request and has be left dissapointed.
It's totally unacceptable that an item in the booklet that clearly states its for two people will not be honoured.
I couldn't give a rats bottom what it states online as what happens with those customers that don't own a computer? How exactly do the get to see this conflicting information?
I'm totally shocked with what I've read with reviews of other people's experiences.
I think the only option now is to contact Trading Standards and Watchdog.

Written on: 18/10/2012
Ha Ha, well i suppose that all depends on your definition of satisfactory.
Granted you offered her a refund of £49.99, but using her words " They can't even be trusted to provide what's offered in the booklet, so how can I trust them with my bank details?. I know it will probably taste like vinegar, but I've chosen the wine as I just cannot deal with the stress of pursuing it further".
Personally I think she's given in too easily, but hey looks like you win.
One question though, 2 adult tickets for London Dungeon cost £48 at the door and £32 if booked online. I assume you get some sort of deal to for them to appear as one of your activities so where exactly does the rest of the £49.99 go when your only giving out tickets that cost as little as £26 if not less?

Oh another claim that they didn't receive something. When we sent our voucher in, they were ages writing back to say that they also had to have proof of purchase. We sent the receipt to them straight away and heard nothing - and when we finally rang them, they claimed they hadn't received it . But as they already had our voucher and had written insisting on proof of purchase, if it hadn't arrived, why didn't they send a reminder? Seems to me that the booking system is deliberately pedantic and drawn out so that vouchers expire - and Activity Superstore get to keep all your dosh without having to pay for anything.
