“Dreadful service ”

Ordered a dress and fascinater from them received the dress but no word of fascinater waited and waited but stilll No idea of delivery date so I sent dress back I was then billed £4.95 because I hadn't returned the dress in the 14 day returns policy !! Eh ! How can that be right when I'm waiting on goods they advertise in catalogue but fail to supply ! Just a joke, never shop with them again ,

“Been a customer for 10 years”

I have been a customer for over 10 years and I have always had a good relationship with them and they have always delivered and collected without any problem, I have ordered frequently and always paid far more than the required amount. This month I was going away so I paid my account on the 2/09 so according to the accounts department it went into August and therefore they expect another payment before the 28/09. On their statement it states that the payments must be made every month before the 28th. This is exactly what happened but because their statements come out on the 5/09, it is suddenly my fault and there is apparently nothing that they can do. I feel that if my business meant something they would be more understanding. Anyway the outcome is that they have lost a good client as I will never place another order with the Otto group.

“lucky escape”

By reading the reviews here i have had a lucky escape from Grattan.. on the 2nd of this month i set up a personal account with them and ordered a pair of boots... here it is now the 6th of the month and no progress according to the web site my account is still being set up although it says on the site it can take up to 24 hours to set up, no company taking four days to set up an account for me is getting my business,oh even if it is near christmas thats no excuse for a shoddy service, christmas comes along every year so if you're not prepared for it, it shows they have no clue how to operate a business.

“Almost 1 month and still waiting.”

I ordered my girlfriend a top from Grattan almost one month ago, According to their system it was in stock and dispatched next day. I have still yet to receive this item. I could have flown to China, had it made and flown back by now. I have contacted them many times but all the say is investigating. JUST SEND ANOTHER ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. Seriously, if you intend on wearing your item, go else where. Worst service I have ever received.

“Not even a customer!”

I'm not a Grattan customer but I dislike this company! One of their customers has given them my email address so I am recieving endless emails. I have tried to contact Grattan over and over but no reply AND they keep sending these emails. Very annoying!

“three weeks delivery”

Dear sir/madam why include items in your collection you have no intention of stocking ? i ordered a pair of trainers on the 15th/1/14 to be told they would not be in stock till February 12th, I have now been informed they will not be in stock till mid March....A little bit of advise for you from someone with over 25 years experience in the retail trade. STOP FOBBING OFF YOUR CUSTOMERS. it is how you loose them"

“Discraceful catalogue”

This is the worst company i have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. DO NOT BECOME A CUSTOMER. If you finally manage to find the item you require in stock, and in your size then you have already been more succesfull than most. But rest assured this is just the beginning of a long and drawn out process of waiting and calling up but constantly being given excuses, and when your item is finally despatched(Probably at least three weeks after you first ordered) then you have to wait around and take time off work to greet a package that will probably not arrive the first two times and when it finallydoes you can guarantee that something will be wrong with it. THE ONLY THING GRATTAN HAVE DONE CONSISTENTLY IN 3 YEARS IS LET ME DOWN AND PROVIDE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER SUFFERED.

I have just made comments to other reviewers but saw so much I am writing my own review about this shoddy company. I use to use them but dumped them a long time ago. The customer service is appalling, they send things you haven't ordered, most of the items I sent back either wrong item sent or it was faulty or broke. trying to get them to pick up returns was a nightmare they would arrange a date not turn up you ring them for another date they don't turn up for that either so for smaller items I took them to the post office, even if the courier did collect them often I was told they had not got them back. I use to pay the bill at the bank but once sent it by post as I couldn't get out waiting for one of their none existent couriers so I mailed it forgetting it was a bank holiday meaning it was a day late, wow they would have lost so much interest on twenty pounds for a day, anyway they charged me twelve pounds late payment fee. I disputed it and got it back. I was looking here today out of curiosity to see how this shoddy company was doing these day seems they haven't changed a bit and it's unlikely they ever will.

“Grattan catalogue-AVOID at all cost”

My experience of being a Grattan customer has been very stressful and left me feeling extremely frustrated and angry. I have been charged for items i did not order or receive, for instance. The last time this happened, i ordered one ps3 bundle. This cost £399.90. They sent me one and then charged me for six! I was overcharged £1999.95! It took nearly a year and me going to the finacial ombudsman service before they put it right. in that time they tried every trick in the book to make me pay for six bundles. Admin fees, blackmail, debt collectrs and bad credit ratings. i have never missed a payment with them, yet i was recieveing an avalanche of threatening letters. All the time they ignored my letters and emails. On the phone, they would tell me one thing and then do the opposite. This company used to be good, until the americans took it over. Now its the pits. They treat customers who pay extortionate interest terms on their goods, better then customers who pay no interest, but straight away. And watch out for the code and offers scam, you order the goods online with the code/offer dicount included, only to find on the statement no discount has been added. this is because you can only use one code at a time, and byenow paylater terms are included as a offer code. Customer service is worse then terrible. My advice to anyone thinking of using Grattan catalogue is DONT. save up and pay cash or go with someone like Argos. Grattan prices are about 20% more expensive then high street prices All Grattan are is GREIF.

I just received a laptop from them and they sent the wrong one and refuse to delete the cost of the one I ordered and expect me to take a day off work to have a courier come to my home to collect the wrong item, I ordered a Acer laptop at £549 they sent me a Packad bell netbook which they don't even sell in the catalogue they also have a very long process to get through to anyone on the phone I hadn't ordered from them for two years and wish I had never gone back to them. Don't shop with them it is a waste of time and money

they once sent me three items I had never ordered. When I rang them about it they said. They were on offer and just thought you may want them. anyway most of their items are tack.damaged or broke when you get them. I dumped them tears ago. I agree DON'T TOUCH EM.

“No Loyalty to long term customers”

I have been a customer of Grattan for around 25 years, their customer service is disgraceful. I missed one monthly payment which was an oversight as I had been unwell and had to undergo an operation. They placed two lots of £12 onto both my customer accounts eventhough I had never missed payments previously, and had to contact them for their shoddy work when they could not even distribute amounts to my customers correctly, even though I completed the form to show where the money should go. I wrote back and explained why I had missed the payment and to please reimburse this fee, considering I had spent a lot of my own time putting right their errors, and I have paid more than the amount due for the missed payment and paid another month's in advance. They still refused to reimbuse this amount. I have therefore said I wish to take this to a formal complaint, and I will not use their catalogue ever again.

“Appaling catalogue”

This company needs to improve not only its goods but service . I have returned everything lately as quality is so poor and the service is appalling . They never return phone calls and blatantly lie and say they tried . They don't pick up returns and say its your fault Totally appalling , they need to compete with next and very who have modern goods and god service they are stuck 20 yrs behind

I can totally agree my Aunt of 63 ordered a shopping trolley on using it for the first time the wheel fell off!! she had to leave the broken trolley frame in town to manage her shopping and take a taxi. on calling Grattan to complain their only response was to say she should have kept the broken trolley to get a replacement. no regard for her age/health or the length of time she has been with them.
Shame, Shame on them!!!!!

I agree, Surely with the profits they must be making, they could invest in a decent computer system.
I ordered an item of clothing from them, then realized that I had ordered the wrong size. My fault entirely. I called the customer's helpline straight away to cancel the order or change it and was told that they could not see the order as their system would not be updated till later that day, so, could I call back tomorrow.
I called back the next day, first thing in the morning and was told, sorry, the item has already been dispatched!
Looks like the computer system works fast when it suits.
This means, to me, after having wasted time and money on the phone, that I would have to waste more time waiting for the parcel to refuse it or call the carrier back to return it.
Not only that but, my last paper statement said plainly that my balance was in credit by £10. Which is actually not true. In a little box at the top, it said that IF I spent £25 I would get £10 discount on my next order. If I am not £10 in credit DO NOT send me a statement saying that I am

“Appalling customer service.”

I have been trying to get a courier to pick up a return to Grattan for about five weeks. I booked on four occasions and no-one turned up. Grattan have charged me a late return fee and say that I couldn`t have booked. So, they are telling me I am lying to them. They have never accepted any responsibility or apologised for the stress and inconvenience caused to me. DON`T USE GRATTAN, THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH

I have been a customer of Grattans for many years until a nightmare began in October 2010 and is still going on.
I requested a Hermes courier parcel pickup and when he came he took another parcel that was for DHL pickup aswell which he should not have done.
I informormed Grattan immediately but I could not get anyone to be interested.
This DHL parcel was to be returned to Selfridges with £130.00 worth of goods in but to this day noone has found it and I have lost goods & money.

Grattan customer services are not interested and even delete my emails before reading so that says it all.

I have tried to contact Hermes but they do not want to know either.

What am I to do.

Been a customer of Grattan for many, many years. Never had any problems. Would definitely recommend to friends (already have done).

As a catalogue offering interest free payments, obviously they are going to be more expensive that the high street stores. But if you wait for their special offers it is well worth the effort.

For instance, at the moment they are offering loyal customers 20% off everything except electricals. Add to this the 3 for 2 Christmas offers and it's a bargain.

I have just ordered £230 worth of Xmas presents and only been charged £105 - result!!!

Never had a problem with online payments, always paid on time so never received a default charge.

Had nothing but hassle since they changed computer system!! Been a good customer for years and always paid on time (and paid more than required), however, Septembers payment didn't go through, neither did 2 emails I sent complaining about the state of packaging from the recent parcels I received - they were battered, torn, ripped - and these were gift boxes!!

I then got a text to say the payment hadnt registered - which has cost me £12 - FOR A TEXT!! and £18 interest as I defaulted. I'm more annoyed that this company have now affected my credit rating for a system that clearly is not working or suffering severe 'teething' problems.

My 3rd Email got through, Subject: COMPLAINT & QUERY! I asked specific questions regarding a return which was damaged, there was no delivery note to include and it was part of a 3 for 2 offer - so I asked how I stood with regards to this (as they dropped a bollock last year with my account too)

My response was a 'bog' standard, cheeky, patronising email telling me in detail how to parcel my return. After years of shopping with Grattan I know how to send something back!!

Now my account is suspended as the payment I made on 5th October is not on my account even though the customer services on the telephone can see it!! I did try to re-order the 'replacement' order which went through as £0 as it was on an offer - I got an email back saying that they couldn't process my order as I exceeded my credit limit,

GRATTAN - SORT YOURSELF OUT.

I recommend that if you want mail order goods - go to Littlewoods group!

GRATTAN - AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE!

I placed an order on the Grattan website and as a first time customer I have experience an appalling service! The time they take to respond to a query is ridiculous! I ended up chasing them! When I ordered my items online it said that my items were in stock so like any other normal delivery service I assumed the items would be with me in 2-3 working days. It was only when I phoned them and asked 4 times when I could expect delivery of my items that I was told it would take 9 days and that 2 of the items I ordered were out of stock!!! There was no mention of this when I placed the order! The whole experience was incredibly frustrating and in the end I decided to cancel my order and informed them that I would never be using their service again! I will be mentioning them to friends but only to tell them to avoid!

I WAS a customer of Grattens for years and I say WAS because I have told them I do not want any more dealings with them. They have cause me so much stress over the past couple of weeks and I have been patronised by the staff over the telephone. I placed an order part of it arrived 3 days later and I paid for the one item I kept. The rest of the order did not arrive until 8 days later. I have been billed for the goods and told I owe £134 and not only have I returned them but they are charging me for them within 9 days of ordering them! They tell me that they have re-ordered them because there had been a delay in the first place. It goes beyond this and I have written to them and called them and sent e-mails to them. It is beyond a matter of a mistake being made. The courier was not informed of my request for a collection and apologised. If this all went to watchdog it would be worthwhile and I have given them 14 days to reply to my letter of complaint along with the £1 commission i earned on the £10 payment I supposedly did not make ! Don't go there as you have nothing but grief !

“My experience was even worse than the ones described...”

My experience was even worse than the ones described here. I paid via cheque, which Grattan banked but failed to credit my account. The first I heard about it was that my next statement showed a £12 non-payment charge.

I tried to phone but "all their operators were busy" - so I gave up that option after about 10 minutes.

I then emailed them and they handled my emails very badly. I marked the first one FORMAL WRITTEN COMPLAINT - ACCOUNT IS IN DISPUTE which they tried to claim they had not received.

To cut a long story short...

Eventually they refunded the £12 charge, after I posted them a copy of the banked cheque, faxed them the copy of the banked cheque, which they either lost - it took them a month to tell me they had lost it - or claimed to have not received.

During the three months that it took to have the cheque creditted to my account, and to have the late payment charge dropped, they claimed to have closed my formal written complaint (without telling me first), and sent me snotty letters depending immediate payment of an amount that was far more than the true balance of the account.

They then refused to pay the bank charges I had incurred to get a copy of the paid cheque without further documentation - the fee was only £5 from my bank, it was not excessive.

I have written to them instructing them to close my account. I also informed them that this catalogue is banned from my household and that they are not to send me any promotional material ever again.

This company is far too heavy-handed with alleged non-payments and have shown themselves to be unfit to handle payments made by cheque.

No I would not reccomend Grattan to a friend .
I also missed 1 payment after being a loyal customer for many years.
I also was charge £12.00 All being that my total balance was £14.47. and the payment I missed was £5.00
and NO they would not refund my penalty fee

I will be closing my account as soon as possible

I found this review helpful because... it shows that Grattan are heavy-handed with their payment fees and alienate customers because of these.
