I recently got an electric meter put in from yourselves and was topping up an awful lot. When i phoned it seemed that within the space of a month i had put £180 into the meter yet i had only used £30 worth of power. I checked my meter and noticed i had only 4p electric left so i went to the shop and got £30 put on my meter key put it in the meter and it took all that also and left me with the 4p. I phoned scottish gas and was put threw to lovely gentleman who explained to me that my... (read more)

It all seemed OK with Scottish Power until my fixed contract was about to end. There was no opportunity to plan a switchover to a new tariff on the day my contract was ending, in advance. I was told that I had to arrange this switch on the day of my call, not on a future date. I wrote an email to complain about the lack of this opportunity to plan the changeover a few weeks in advance. No response came, not even an acknowledgment of my email. Brick wall. I waited until the day before the... (read more)

As I reviewed this in the electricity section for Scottish Power I shall briefly say that the fact that this company can charge £190 a month for a 3 bed property where the only gas supply is to the boiler and the two occupants are out at work all day every day except the weekend is beyond me!! We are lucky to have two incomes however those who are benefits or the elderly will have my every sympathy. I was a customer of Scottish Power but moved home. The cancellation was fine and their tariffs were much of a muchness. The reason for the poor rating is the marketing calls, they will not stop. It's either a recorded message telling me to ring a different number to stop the calls, thus costing me to tell them to stop, or an agent who seems to take little notice of me asking them to stop calling me. This should be illegal by default, I would like to see heavy fines for all companies who... (read more)

I recently used Money Supermarket to switch energy supply to Scottish Power. I received a welcome email from Scottish Power on the 16th of October. I also received a Welcome pack by post on the 17th October, dated 15th of October. On the 19th October I sent a cancellation notice email to Scottish Power well within seven working days of receiving their Welcome email (as per the instructions on their own email from 16th October) and promptly received an automated response saying that they... I have been with Scottish power since I moved in about 18 months ago on a pre-payment meter and had never heard anything from then until 2 days ago. Since 2 days ago, I have received threatening letters, missed calls, voicemails and texts because I haven't been sending them my meter readings. I thought that was their job! I have no meter readings because it is prepaid. When I try to call them back I am unable to speak to anyone, just a voicemail, telling me to urgently give them my meter... (read more)

Headlines first: 6 weeks after giving my final meter readings, and after my final gas bill from Scottish Power, Scottish Power took more money by direct debit for gas and electricity. They will have to make a separate refund of this money for gas, and I still haven't received my final bill for electricity. Details: A meter reader took both readings on the 4th August 2011, but it took over a month, to the 13th September to get a final gas bill. They owe me money for gas. Then, the next day,... Scottish Power sent me a bill out of the blue, claiming I owed over £800. Why? Because they have had my meter readings mixed up for years. This is despite having my meter read by Scottish Power personnel every quarter, and sending in correct figures when I received estimated bills.
