I have been renting Old Town Discovery 169 's for around 10 years. I have tried others, but for the river we run The historical St. Croix River this is the only boat I'd rent. I did not like the Kineos they did not have the 3 layer system. I repaired too many. Discovery 169 for a rocky river. Great boat. New 169 have great back rests. (read more)

The Old Town Discovery is an adequate recreational canoe for a first canoe. The Discovery's are heavy! It will take a good beating and come back for more. Check out Mohawk canoes made in Florida, they look to me to be a better canoe, and better bargain all round. (read more)
