Good Points: Excellent LCD screen.
USB 2.0 - downloads a CD in seconds.
6 preset 5-band equalizers, all user definable.
Encodes analogue line-in from vinyl deck, microphone, etc.
Inbuilt microphone for voice recording.
Bad Points: The FM radio looks very promising, is very easy to autotune and recall . . . but suffers from poor reception.
General comments: The Mediasonic M7170 is available in various guises from different resellers. I bought the Mediasonic player as it is offered from the UK and has a lively message board. The device is small enough to fit in my shirt pocket and holds all the music I own
It has an undocumented games menu, with Tetris, oithello, snake and more. The screen is large enough to make the games playable.
Apart from that, it does everything you could ask - search for music by album, artist, song title, genre, etc - play everything randomly, voice and line-in record. You can lock the keys so you can put the player in its carry case without knocking the buttons.
