Since 2003 we've rented cars at Auriga. High service, low costs and new cars. Even in 2010 I've tot what I've ordered and Auriga die have an office at the Alicante airport. Yes, I had to pay an extra €30 for insurance and about €60 for petrol. I was used to it. This year (2013) I ordered again a car at AurigaCrown. This time I had to pick up my car at Dickmans. They did nog have an office at the airport, but an acceptabele shuttlebus system. This time I've got a brand new Corsa. A

All went well with no problems, until the return of vehicle. Clerk could not be bothered to check out car. We returned it with full tank and was told did not need to use credit card for refund. Slip of paper was attached to paperwork and off we went. BUT the refund has not been made and the refernce numbers on the last slip do not match.
I do not blame the company, just the member of staff who was either not well trained or on the make.
I have yet to hear from anyone regarding sorting this out.

I have used Auriga for several years and had no problem. When the volcanic dust affected visitors in Spain they were excellent in accomodating my request to extend the car hire, and only charged me at the original rate.Other firms took advantage and upped the charges!! Thank you Auriga!!

Booked AurigaCrown Car Hire through Economy car hire for collection from Palma in Majorca. Initially had to queue for about 45 minutes after collecting luggage, as expected they tried to sell an additional insurance for glass, tyres, under carriage and clutch but weren't too pushy, since we'd already bought this from Economy, we had to pay a 300 Euro deposit. We had booked something like a Purgeot 307 but were "upgraded" to a Ford Mondeo (?!), which was bigger than we wanted but accepted it anyway, it had done 67,000 miles, had a few dents on the outside and could do with a clean inside but got us from A to B. The good news is they supplied it full of fuel and asked we returned it full, with no excessive fuel charge from them. We found the Mondeo a bit large for the roads where we were staying, so two days later asked to be downgraded, they were as helpful as they could be to do this and exchanged it for a Ford Focus (30,000 miles), apart from also needing a clean, it was basically fine. The 300 Euro deposit was refunded after the car was returned in one piece. I don't think we had any specific problems with them, so might use them again in the future.

For spain good overall experience. Friendly staff, have used Auriga Crown Car Hire maybe twice in last 5 years but all my details were on system so no need to repeat, asked if I would like to bring car back with full tank save 55 euros full tank charge only used 14 euros worth.

All insurance covered except for clutch and tyres. If you are travelling to older parts of Spain where you are likely to drive into the old areas and where the streets are literally wide enough for the car (often having to fold the wing mirrors in); then being insured against scratches is a good deal. Car was clean when delivered and staff were young and friendly although not terribly knowledgeable about the area. Good and competitive, if you are fairly self sufficient but don't expect any extras. Could introduce GPRS. Not clear that you had to return the tank totally full, which for most people means almost daily use of the car for about 5 days and averaging at least 100 KM a day. The cost of a full tank for our small car was 65 Euros, which at the current exchange rate was about 50 GBP. Little or no staff support via the phone.

One complaint: They insist you have full tank at pick-up point, 65 euros worth in our case. We returned car half full of fuel - but they still demanded to keep the 65 euros! After 15minutes argument, the only concession I got was a scribbled note to say "returned tank half full" - but now I have to chase the office in UK and argue to get my 30+ euros back. Very irritating!!
