“Sad it's gone!”

★★★★★

written by 65Hutchison on 05/04/2014

Needed to post this as only recently heard of its closure. Camelot meant a lot to me and my family I have been going for many years, we went the year of the closure but due to sad circumstances didn't look to go 2013, obviously it had shut by then.Camelot never claimed to have rides on the scale of the larger theme parks, it's a much smaller place, and all parks pitch at different levels, Camelot fell between Gullivers and Alton Towers, but had enough there for older theme park fans. It did need investment but since 2009 had not see much of that, staff, I thought were friendly and polite . Jousting was great fun! Overall gutted....nothing in the North West apart from the very overpriced Pleasure Beach.camelot provided much more than rides! Disgusting that no one felt family time important enough to invest in.

“Things were ok but could have been better”

★★★☆☆

written by juliestyles on 12/09/2013

I guess it could have been cleaner and general maintenance is not great but things could have been worse. Won't be visiting again in a hurry though. Queues were not massive but that was proably more down to the turn in weather than anything else.

“Expected better”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Benificence on 01/09/2012

My wife won a competition and tickets to visit this place, so we went yesterday, 2 adults and 2 children 13 and 15. I have to say that this is possibly one of the worst attractions I have ever been to. The place is falling apart, stinks to high heaven, and staffed by unhelpful, depressed looking teenagers. I was genuinely worried about going on some of the rides having seen the state of of some of the operators, rusting rails, electric substations, rotting queueing areas etc. The other thing which galled me is that some of the more well maintained rides were charging up to £3.50 a go, which if I had paid £85.00 for a family ticket (which by the way you would have to be mentally ill to do so) would have left me feeling totally ripped off. All in all quite a disappointing day, and definitely won't be returning, even for free.

“CAMELOT THEME PARK ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 14/04/2011

CAMELOT THEME PARK
first of all if any one on here has given them a good rating, then they either work there ,and are made to rate it, or they dont get out that much,
camelot, more like cr@ppylot, what a sh@t hole.
children 1 meter tall are charged the same as an adult, even though all the better rides can only be used if you are 1.4 meters and up, and i do use the word better loosly, this place looks like its ready to fall down, and the rides that some one under 1.4 meters would like to have a go of , you have to pay for, what a rip off, typical costs a small tray of chips £2.50, a large gob stopper that tastes of nothing £3.00, would not go back there for free

I thought Camelot was going to be better than Gullivers(Warrington) I was so wrong Camelot is only good if your under 12, The Dragon coaster was probably the best ride there. The ferris wheel is tiny and only goes round once,The Jousting show was aweful, boring and goes on forever before the jousting even starts you spend 20minutes cheering for no point. It is not organised very well it looks like every ride was just put anywhere it could fit and the map was not very helpful. The Farm is small and all the animals look unhappy and when you have finished in the farm you have to wash your hands(understandable)but there are only 2 sinks so your stood there for 10minutes waiting to wash your hands. With only a few good rides the ques where too long and not worth the wait. So Save a £10 and go Gullivers World and not this horrible waste of time and money.

When we arrived there were huge queues that just wasn't going down. After 45 mins of queuing we finally went in. The queues for all the rides took approx 45 mins each and don't even get me started on the carousel! The food court wasn't any better either for wimpey. After 4 and half hours there we had been on 4 rides. Not impressed and won't be going back!

“We went to Camelot today with our 4 year old knight...”

★★☆☆☆

written by choccy78 on 23/08/2010

We went to Camelot today with our 4 year old knight crazy son. He enjoyed it because he is 4 years old, we seen it for what it is. Its dirty and smelly and overpriced it needs a good clean, more maintenance and lick of paint. We had our 9 week old daughter with us as well who needed feeding regularly so spent some time in the 'entertainment' centre and the food court both smelt awful. So glad we had a packed lunch as I wouldnt want to eat there.
Its not right paying so much money to get in somewhere when facilities are in this state the only good thing about this place is the jousting otherwise I would go to Gullivers world in Warrington which is much better and clean !Our son loved the jousting if it was on all day he would of watched all day. All the knights were happy to pose for photos as well if you asked.
He also loved the Merlin magic show. He went on a lot of rides as the queues are short another good point but I tell you what the attendants arent half miserable. One attendant was telling the kids, (all aged under 6)over the microphone 'the ride is about to stop but wait for it to stop before you get off' but some children where whooping with excitement and he stops what he is saying and says still over the microphone ' I dont know why I bother speaking when you are all making noise ' Oh come on what do you expect they are little kids ...
The fair games are also a rip off they had lots of prizes showing stating 'prize every time' even had little teddies on show about 10cm high so normally you would assume your gonna at least win the little teddy but no the prize every time is produced from the attendants pocket and it was a glowstick !!
There is too much tempation for young kids to want this and that there are arcades everywhere, face painting , tattoos that sort of thing all costing more on an already expensive day.
So overall I wasnt very impressed for a fair I would go to Gullivers world and for knights I would check out a castle and see if they have the jousting as that is the only thing worth paying for.

Our party was 6 adults, a 4 year old, 15 month and 10 month. We spent a very happy 6 hours there and only left because we were exhusted, there was mofre to see and do. Great rides and plenty of fun for the little ones and adults. Differant areas to explore and the jousting to break it all up. Feels relaxing cause its not too big and very safe for the children. Very clean and well run staff very helpful and quick service. Lots of baby changing areas.

The rides were great not that busy due to the weather. Good staff that you can rely on ( to stop queue jumpers). There are lots of different rides for all ages. Also stalls and a jousting show. The show was great but a little boring at the beginning the only thing that was disappointing was that the ladies toilets were a bit grubby and in need of attention when I went in. All in all me and my friends had a brilliant day, great value for money and only 20 minutes from home.

written by on 15/08/2010

Visited Camelot today with husband and two sons aged 5 and 9 and had a great time. I fully expected the place to be heaving and queues horrendous, given it was a Sunday in the middle of the summer hols and the weather was beautiful. It was busy and some queues were a bit longer, but overall we had a fantastic day and went on whatever we wanted several times. The jousting was pretty good too and a welcome sit-down. I know you can't compare Camelot to Alton Towers, but if you have younger children, this is a good alternative, particularly if you get the BOGOF deal from the MoneySavingExpert website and take a picnic!
My only real criticism is the amount of fairground type stalls that the kids demand extra money for - I did get fed up having to say no!

Loved it everyone else loved it too. My aunt got a special discount so every price was halved. Knightmare is by far the best ride. Whirlwind is not far behind. Wimpys and the other failed food stalls werent great. Neither were the wasps but the jousting was fantastic. I definitely recommend this to families.

written by on 08/08/2010

The only thing stopping me from using a stronger word than terrible is a distaste for foul language.
No wasps for me, but totally overpriced; £68 for a family ticket, then they want more cash from you for half the rides in there. The rides themselves are substandard. A plank of wood fell off the waiting shelter for the swinging galleon as we entered, obviously not instilling confidence. Staffed by rude, surly teenagers. The toilets stink, and so does the cafe. Only overpriced fast food available.
Not going to dignify it with more words

Had the buy 1 get 1 free vouchers (available online) so £11 each. Our party was 2 adults, a 10 year old and a thrill seeking 3 year old. We spent a very happy 5 hours there and only left to miss the traffic. There arent the huge scary rides but plenty of fun for the kids and brill family rides - log flume, rollercoasters etc. Differant areas to explore and the jousting to break it all up. Feels relaxing cause its not too big and very safe for the children. Will be going back in school holidays - fantastic!

written by longmarsh1 on 15/05/2010

We downloaded a voucher for buy one get one free off the visit lancashire website- bargain. We got there just after 11am on a saturday and was able to breeze onto the rides without queueing. I would not recommend this theme park for teenagers although some of the rides were very scary for small kids this was brilliant. The dining area was rubbish with very little choice . TAKE A PICNIC it is cheaper and not frowned upon at all. The gifts in the shop were cheap to buy e.g the infaltable hammer £2. Yes the decor is poor but the staff were all freindly and the show with jowsting was fabulous and professional. Even thinking of getting the season ticket as the price is £150 for a family of four minus the ticket price you pay on the day(keep your stubbs and go to reception for the form)

not enough rides for the adults evan though it costs more for the adults to get in to the theme park. seems to be more for the little kiddies they had a lot of rides for them which is not a bad thing.

The farm thing wasnt too bad though!

They need to build more for the adults. And improve the jousting! it was pathetic!

Went to Camelot today with my wife, 8 year old daughter and her friend.
We had 2 for 1 vouchers downloaded off the internet which would have cost us £44 for the group but when I got to the front of the queue someone had left £8 each vouchers so I only paid £32 for a FAMILY DAY OUT.

A coup;le of the rides were not working but on the whole it was fine.

written by Helen Bonner on 15/04/2010

8 of us aged between 6 and 45 spent a fantastic day at Camelot. Very little queing for rides. Some areas have had a lick of paint since last year, but there is still a little tired look about the place. The staff at Wimpy however all looked like school kids with no-one appearing to take charge. Although there were barely 6 people in the que, it still took over half an hour to get 2 kids meals, which came without the advertised toy. This was on a quiet day. Who knows what it will be like by the summer holidays?! Where else can you have a fun family day out for £11 per head? Go!!!! You won't be disappointed!!
