Good Points: Nice and light.
Bad Points: Filter cleaning system does not work. Maintenance and emptying very awkward and messy. No help from manufacturer.
General comments: The Dust box for the Panasonic MCE472 has to be removed after each use in order to move a ratchet handle back and forth a number of times to agitate filter.
Emptying dust box is VERY messy. The lower filter comes off and has to be replaced.
The dust has to be scraped off this filter as the little brushes that are meant to rotate and keep it clean never do.
Phoning their help line gets the reply that they don't deal with this anymore - and re-direction did not get anywhere.
I am so pleased to see that someone else found the same problems with this as I did - I thought my house must be exceptionally dirty to clog the filters so quickly. I was also VERY pleased to see that the writer had abandoned the cleaner after only six months, as I have just returned home after taking my cleaner to the tip after persevering for a year, and was feeling VERY guilty and extravagant. Thank-you for relieving my conscience!
Great pity about these cleaners though - I bought mine because I had heard Panasonic are sticklers for quality - and I have had a clock radio of theirs for over twenty years - and it is still working perfectly.
