Good Points: Suck dust and dirt well. Needs emptying often which is a good thing as it does drag out loads of hidden dirt. Spare parts easy to find on the web, every time bits break. For an item that is kept hidden from view it is a pretty thing.

Bad Points: Made of parts that break easily and often - I have spent in two years more on self-fit replacement parts than it cost in the first place. Most complicated emptying procedures possible. The carrying handle, being flimsy, broke and needed replacing early in it's life so now I do not carry it with the handle - in case it breaks again. Why does Hoover employ people to design handle release buttons who seem to not know how to design release buttons for handles?

General comments: Hoover used to be the number one brand for vacuum cleaners. The DM4470 model is alright but is bringing the name of Hoover down. It does what it is supposed to do but that is all. It is described as lightweight but is not easy to carry. It has been designed for prettyness but not durability. If you are looking for a mid priced vacuum cleaner for occasional work without stairs and are prepared occasionally for a minor repair then this is worth considering.

My family have been loyal Hoover customers for a number of years. The old style Hoover Junior gave us many years of workhorse usage.
Since then we have tried a number of other brands and felt let down. We returned to the Hoover fold with the DM4470. I wish that we hadn't bothered. It's been a disaster from about two months use. Please Hoover come up with a stylish basic model that does the job, and as for it being a lightweight model... Dream on!!!

As a long standing user of Hoover hoovers! I thought that buying the new DM 4470 bagless dustmanager would be a good bet, within a week of having the machine it's design flaws show through, the container inside leaks far too much of the content into the pre motor filet, this gives up and allows the dust and debris to get through the motor housing into the rear hepa filter which gives up and your house end up being re decorated with redistributed dust, great considering one of the main reason I o ...
