Got insurance through swinton because they were the cheapest by quite a large amount. Long story short. Bike stolen from outside work. In a secure compound with electric fence and cctv everywhere. After being passed to BLD the underwriter axa wouldn't accept their assessment so bike moved to a compant called 4th dimemsion who also class it as an uneconomical repair. Axa now wont pay out because the steering lock wasnt on. Secure compounds and cctv are not enough aparently. But to rub salt... (read more)

I renewed my scooter insurance with Swinton's as they were the cheapest on 'Go Compare' - that was a big mistake! Having had the year's policy (paid in full) for only two months. I sold my scooter and had no intention to purchase another. Thinking like every other policy I have had, I will at least get some cash back for up to 10 months of unused policy. It would only be about 30 quid but that is better than nothing. To my shock, the representative asked me for another £21 to which my... (read more)

I have just written to Go Compare where I initially found the policy and urged that they visit the reveiw centre to see how common lace the complaints are regarding Swinton. While I appreciate that they do not represent Swinton or any other company, i feel they should have a general warning that some insurance companies charge an exorbitant cancellation fee - namely Swinton. I am so angry I want to start a major blog and have it go viral about these thieves

Rang with change to policy. Policy only had 3 months left but they are insisting on charging me for the entire 12 months, payable over the 3 months remaining. Why would I have to pay for 9 months worth of extra premium I did not use?! I was lead to believe differently when I first rang, and have requested a recording of that first phonecall - at a charge of £10! Complaining to financial obudsman, these guys are cowboys.
