I had to make a claim after my handbag was stolen. I had an annual travel policy with them, which I had renewed. They then told me they dont cover my phone (they apparently dont cover android phones) or the stolen cash as the cash was under £80, it was for £64, hidden on page 30 of their policy book apparently) Both of these major things should be pointed out when either taking out the policy or in the letter that accompanies your policy docs, but they arent. They are useless in the... (read more)

I chose AA insurance because I trust(ed) the brand - certainly not because they were the cheapest. I have an Annual Policy, and my daughter went on holiday with some school-friends before going to University. She had a bag stolen on a Greek beach, containing a camera, mobile phone, and 50 Euros. She had to take a taxi costing 25 Euros to the nearest police station to report it. When I phoned Drakefield, I discovered that Mobile Phones aren't covered - 'they're covered by Mobile Phone... AA Insurance was excellent when I needed to make a claim. My brother had a stroke (I am next of kin)and was in intensive care - a week before my friend and I were due to travel to Tenerife. The holiday company would not accept a postponement as it was too near departure. There was quite a bit of paperwork for the AA Insurance( Drakefield Insurance) however was completed they dealt with the claim quickly and effectively. I was really pleased with the outcome. The exclusions seem to make this policy worthless for us. We were broken into and a few valuables not in the room safe were taken. Drakefield Insurance that back the AA policy do not cover valuables left in a room not in a safe so we lost around 4-500 pounds. Their list of valuables just do not fit in a safe. The remaining items did not make it up to the excess. When I spoke to the claims department they said I should make a claim so much time and effort was spent on the claim only for them... (read more)

I purchased AA Travel Insurance (underwritten by a company called Drakefield Insurance) back in October 2011 to cover my four-month backpacking trip to South Africa. Unfortunately I required medical treatment for a chest/heart problem whilst in Johannesburg and sought assistance at the nearest medical centre. As is common practice I had to pay up front and then seek recompense from my insurer. My total bill was +/- £200. AA Travel Insurance provide you with a credit card size information... (read more)

There are several companies in the marketplace that effort to befool blameless public and run away with their money. For that reason, it is better to check the legal and qualified status of the company before hiring it.
So, visit on this Site: http://www.honestyfirstautotransport.com/

Not sure what your problem is, looks 2 me as if the company you quoted and the AA did as they had 2 do. And whatever happened 2 u re your claim will have been mentioned in your original application /claims form (small print) the ones u probably did not bother 2 read. U got what you expected and 2 rabbit on about the exchange rate is total rubbish on your part my experience of insurance companies is that they do not settle that quick so next time you run into good service like that do not complain about nothing get a life!! And give the appropriate marks FULL
Written on: 26/07/2012
Oh dear 'Guest' 26/7/2012.....seems anyone whose opinion differs from yours warrants an abusive comment. The exchange rate was, in my opinion, a valid point to highlight and the initial manner in which I was treated also relevant to my review. The key really being "in my opinion"...as with all reviews. And to dismiss another of your baseless assumptions, as an attorney I dutifully read ALL small print. So, to conclude, taking into account my first-hand experience of AA Travel Insurance I believe they entirely merit a high rate, but not the maximum available rating.

Sounds to me that you were treated quite fairly by AA/ Drakefield. It would have been quite simple to say that to start with. But then I see below that you are a lawyer and it makes sense. Many lawyers like yourself feel compelled to spew a lot of words and essentially say nothing, just to convince themselves they have something to say. I will remember AA/ Drakefield for my next vacation.

@Desand1's....I would also consider using AA/Drakefield for future trips too and am delighted my review has pointed you in their direction. Of course I hope you have no need to call upon their services on your upcoming vacation but, based on my sole experience with their product, I would be confident that, should the unfortunate occur, they would fulfil their duties towards you....

We have finally settled our claim after 6 months - but please avoid this company! My partner and I traveled to the South of France for a two week camping holiday. However our trip was cut short when a small cut on my leg became infected and I was rushed to a French Hospital to remove the infected tissue, I didn't respond to the antibiotics and the hospital advised me to return to the UK. On arriving in the UK I went straight to A&E, and after 4 months of treatment I was able to walk again.... (read more)

AA travel insurance maybe cheap but it is not good value for money because they do not like paying out on the insurance. We found out they managed to not pay the airline for our international trip. We found this out the night before the trip. The receipt they give you is worthless. They charged a $500 penalty for a ticket change which is legally limited to $200. They booked a ticket two days before the trip and didn't tell us. We had not contacted them for several months. They charged us $500 more then the original receipt said. We will NEVER use AA TRAVEL again. (read more)
