We found out they managed to not pay the airline for our international trip. We found this out the night before the trip. The receipt they give you is worthless. They charged a $500 penalty for a ticket change which is legally limited to $200. They booked a ticket two days before the trip and didn't tell us. We had not contacted them for several months. They charged us $500 more then the original receipt said. We will NEVER use AA TRAVEL again.

Decided to go with a reputable company for my travel insurance to the USA.so we chose the AA travel insurance and they ended up being a complete nightmare.
My father-in-law died 12 hours before we were to fly, quite suddenly, out of the blue.never had been ill.
no problem we thought claiming from our insurance.

My mother was also ill whilst on holiday with me, her medical bills were higher than mine, she was insured with direct line that paid up within 5 days and handled her claim on the phone. AA insurance asked me for my cruise ticket of which was handed in when I embarked the ship, now I am to send my booking confirmation showing how much I paid and who traveled with me for my medical claim! (I fail to see why this is necessary) - they have already had the receipts from the ships doctor with my trav ...

The AA Travel Insurance website seems to have had a complete overhaul... much more competitive product and pricing than when I last looked at using them...nice to see a major brand available at 'online' prices!

Myself and my husband had Annual Travel Ins. and were due to go away for a weekend trip to Bulgaria. We both fell ill, couldn't go away and after sending AA our doctor's paper, we were compensated for the full amount of the trip.

AA Travel Insurance - One of the most expensive sites I visited, if I want insurance I'd recommend an insurance company, not a car repair firm.

I think the AA should stick to what they do best....fixing cars. Travel insurance is best left to the experts that can give professional advice to claimants and are experts in their field and have the resources to answer phones and take messages and give comprehensive advice as to what is required by them when submitting a claim.
