bsa standard varient 1,manufactured 1919/39 nicknamed giant or long tom.s or t prefixes 45.5inch overall.in .177 or .22 this superb old airgun shoots and handles as well as its modern counterparts.due to its age its open sights only but this adds to its charm and the challenge for accurate shooting.in both calibres it is full power thats to say within the 12 ftlbs limit as are all modern airguns so it competes at this level.it is now enjoying a resurgence on two levels the first being its collectability and charm the second that the old bell target competitions are also enjoying a revival which utilize the vintage open sight air rifles.

ive recently been given one of these BSA Standard No2 Model by my grandad i think its a earlier model though, as its the 2350th gun made with the letter "A" in front of the digits, amazingly light gun, and great for any shooter, dropped a few rabbits at 30-40 yards and a couple of pesky magpies its a joy to hold and gives you a feeling of achievment once shot, only thing thats been replaced is the spring, nd throws a whopping 12 foot pounds best .177 ive held, and better than any modern day .177 ...- Read Guest's review (95 words)

This gun was made to last for ever, it handles very well and is not too heavy for anyone to carry, mine dates from 1934.
Some of the designers today could learn a thing or two from these vintage airguns, even the open solid steel sights are wonderful and it is so nice to see triggers and trigger guards made of solid steel and not a cheap alloy.- Read Guest's review (70 words)

I have to admit I am biased towards this BSA Standard No2 Model rifle. My dad was walking across a field in 1924 at the age of 16 when an air-gun pellet whizzed past his ear. When he looked for the source the lad who fired it was 50 yards or more away. His instant thought was "Got to have one of those!". He bought one, it helped to feed the family with rabbits, after the war, and I used it a lot as a lad. (Tried shooting at the pegs on the clothes line 2 doors up, once and got told off a bit whe ...- Read John Speed's review (153 words and 1 comment)

I bought my 1936 BSA Standard .22 off a mate for £50 and is in mint condition. It weighs approx 7.5lbs and packs one hell of a punch. I can get a pellet through a tin can almost everytime at 40 yds with open sights; it's a shame that it looks impossible to get mounts for sights due to the underlever arrangement (desirable for rabbits etc..). I will keep looking for a solution though. Chambers gunmakers still hold parts. A stunning gun.- Read currykev's review (90 words)

I aquired a BSA Standard No2 Model.22 in almost mint condition about a year ago and its an absolute beauty, it catches everyones eye and is quite a conversation piece.
I reckon it's pretty easy to tweak as well I reckon it,ll match almost any underlever on the market today.- Read tony watson's review (76 words)

The BSA Standard No2 Model is a piece of british gunmaking history, I was given mine by a mate who found it stuffed in the rafters of an old barn he was converting up in the derbyshire peak district(must be a crackin story there....if only it could talk!!!!)got it home, freed it up with WD40, oiled it and stuffed a eley wasp down it, was quite amazed to find it actually worked!!!! Have done a minor resto on it keeping as original as possible, roll on the next 70 yrs.- Read robaroo's review (141 words)

I'm new to reviewing air rifles but I think vintage ones deserve a mention. It is what I call a gas pipe airgun, some would say its ugly. Beauty is only skin deep! The gun is quite long and perhaps a little unwieldy but I love it. Easy to use and cheap to feed being a .177. I was ripping up beer cans at 50yds despite having no rear sight. Just the two little fingers that hold the insert in place. The foresight blade is a work of art.
I can't wait to get another one like it. I'm not telling you ...- Read Clarence Over's review (149 words and 3 comments)
