    Good Points: Excellent mobile.

Bad Points: Would like a few more ring choices but otherwise ok.
Rubber coating round lens has eroded over three years regular use

General comments: Robust, simple voice mail phone kind to user with larger hands. easy menu selection and logical layout. Where can I get A NEW ONE PLEASE?

I both own the Ericsson R310s and the r250s, and nothing can compete to these cellphones! Being an outdoor loving person I have used the phone thoroughly. It still works.

The technical advantages of this phone are outstanding. This phone is used only for being reachable and dialling 112, it performs well. The antennae looks silly, but gives a high gain.

One hell of a disadvantage is that the software tends to be a litlle bit fizzy.

I have had 10 phones in so many years so I never buy, or keep a mobile long if it does'nt have good points, and this mobile has so many good points. Don't be afraid of the price...believe it... and be happy while you own it!

It has everything that one would expect from a heavy duty phone. I once used it for more than an hour in pouring rain. It feels great to have one.

I bought an Ericsson R310 mobile phone in january of 2002. After around 4 months of minor sorts (power offs and freezes) i decided to send the phone for a software update. The phone came back with another problem - a key pad fault. The result was that each time the 7 key was pressed 9 would appear onscrean instead. As you can imagin this was a disaster when it came to sending SMS and ringing people. The phone went back again. It came back with the same fault. A little phone call to the helpdesk ...

The Ericsson R310s is a very good phone for active people who aren't too careful with the phone.

The Ericsson R310s mobile phone is just great for people who use it in heavy conditions. My phone is in contact with water very often, also dust and not at last place - i drop it. Looked at the other side - this phone is not suitable for people who buy it for its shape and looks. I can't say anything about the signal and data transfer rate, WAP and T9, but I don't need them anyway.

I have had this Ericsson R310s phone for about 3 months, after the R250S PRO, which was a very good phone. Before I had a Nokia 3210 - absolutely perfect. I'm changing to the Nokia's heavy duty model soon. I'm really disappointed from that model - it's a real failure and something that I was not expecting from a company like Ericsson, especially after such a nice experience with the R250s PRO.
This is a serious warning to any potential buyer of that model.

I have a habit to change my Mobile phone periodically. I have an experience using it for a couple of months before i trade it w/ a much smaller one. Smaller indeed, but more fragile and couldn't cope w/ harsh treatment i seldom(accidently) do. Now i really Regret having sold it to a friend(who doesn't know it's value then sold it again). I have intention to buy R310 again and experience the life the r310 way.

I owned a Nokia 9110 and a Siemens SL45 before I got this phone. I do not regret getting this phone. Ok, so it doesnt play mp3s and i cant connect online with it but in the end of the day this is just supposed to be a phone. I got the blue and grey one and purchased the original case for it which is like an outdoor survivor type of case, comes with a ruler, thermometer, compass and magnifying glass. Feel like hiking now... :)

all in all, i would recommend this fone to those people who frequently drop their fone. but, if you are the type who does business the wireless way, you may have trouble with this fone because it doesn't have wap although it has a good data trasfer speed of 9600 bps (i think..). if you plan on using it with your laptop, you should purchase the infra red modem from ericsson (Di28 ir modem). and the outdoor adventure kit will come in really handy if your planning on going climbing or trekking.

All in all, this is a very nice phone.

Text takes a while to write, but you get used to it.

Battery lasts quite some time. I've dropped this phone many times, and I don't even get worried, because the phone is very solid.

I hear the newest software fixes crashing bugs I've been having, but most likely other software bugs are still there.

I have had the 310s 10 months before that I used the siemens s25 for 18 months (no problems whatsoever). The supplier of my phone eircom, replaced the phone and the new phone had exactly the same software problems,if I were given the phone for nothing I would'nt touch it.I run my own electrical contracting business and a reliable phone is vital.Stay away from this phone a bean can with a piece of string attached would be more effective!

I've had the Ericsson R310 phone for several months, and I'm still really happy with it. The shock-proof design has protected it from numerous drops, and the water-resistant capabilities are especially useful, allowing the phone to be washed under the tap when dirty. The reception is excellent, even in many mountainous areas, where other phones drop out. Battery life too, is excellent, outlasting many other phones. Not having WAP is a slight downer, but I am still unimpressed by the capabilitie ...

This is a great phone for me, I need this kind of phone because of my hobbies and I think it looks great too! Reception and sound quality is very good and so is speaker volume, you can understand conversation even in highways or industrial halls.

Display is very good and clear too. Keypad is one of the best I've used. No 'Only emergency calls'-bugs familiar with T28-series. Battery life is also quite good, battery lasts 4-5 days my usage, nights off.

Software is a little bit slow but what' ...

I asked to change my faulty T28 with the R310 , after using the phone for 3 months I have to admit its a very good phone ,the reception is very good actually it works while other phones become dead with nearly no signal.
battery life is a dream come true with normal use it stays on for 5 to 6 days.
As a site Engineer I tend to treat my phones in a harsh way, but still nothing was able to effect this phone, I have also washed it couple of times. I even washed it in front of some of my friends j ...

Having used three replacement T28s, Ericsson UK finally gave me a R310s which after a few months had to be replaced as it developed the same faults as the T28. Powering off spasmodically, battery charging not correctly. Faults with SMS address book recall, then phone refuses to power on at all.

My Brother has also had T28s and R310s replacements and ALL his had the same faults after only a few months of use.
So between two people, we have had 7 T28s and 4 R310s in the time span of 6 months. ...
