I owned this pistol for about 8 months. And put alot of rounds threw it, I did find accuracy to be a little bit poor compared to the walther cp88 and thought it was a bit heavy in the hand, Also the pistol grip is quite chunky and if you have small to meduim hands is a bit off putting, The other down side is the wobbley front sight. However i dont want to sound to negative, As despite these small problems it is made by umarex in germany and feels fairly well built. It has adjustable rear... (read more)

This pistol retains it's accuracy for the first 24 shots, then the power/ same-hold accuracy drops off significantly.To maintain the same sight pattern throught the entire cartridge you must practice and adjust your vertical hold to allow for the drop in presure ( an unfortunate result of most CO2 guns ). Really, without trying to sound effete, I can't believe the number of reviews I read where the people are unable to spell the words correctly! I'm an older guy, but this really makes me... what a good gun. nice to hold has a good weight. but is expensive to run compared to a break action air rifle, since you have to pay for the co2. but it is more fun. DO nOT buy the compensator. as this is what i have done, and it was a complete waste of my time. it doesn't even have a barrel inside it!!!!!! its just for show. but the wood grips are a must have. stops your hand from slipping and looks great on the non-shiny version. you may need to experiment with different types for .177... Is the first air pistol I have ever bought, so can't really compare to other ones. I find it is very effective for shooting tin cans and targets for up to 40m accurately and is powerful enough to take down pigeons and rats. Especially for rats. Uses up c02 canisters quickly so be sure to have quite a few at hand. In terms of ammunition it functions better with high quality makes. Avoid makes such as eley wasp as they can jam the gun if used too much. Overall a great gun. Hope I've been useful (read more)

I bought my Beretta 92FS a few days ago. Today was the first day i could spend most of the day shooting it. First I shot at a can 50 ft away and never missed all 16 shots. Next I took it to a paper target and never shot out of the black rings from 50ft. Then I took it to my favorite test. I saw a fat grey squirrel attacking the feeder. I put in a 7.9gr Crosman Hollow Point and Walther CO2. Lined the sights on his front shoulder. Clean shot it didn't even twitch. (read more)

Agree with SotTheDot 100%.
<br/>
<br/>I have a 92FS and although a decent enough 'plinking' gun for paper targets and INANIMATE targets at short range i.e. up to 10 yards, it most definitely not a pest control tool.
<br/>
<br/>'Cleanly' killing a squirrel with a 92FS at other than just a few yards, is a bit far fetched, and indeed 'live' targets should NOT be shot at with air pistols due to their much lower legal maximum power (at least in the UK. - they just haven't got enough power.
<br/>
<br/>Accuracy claims of the reviewer for a target distance of 50 yards are also a bit optimistic to say the least.
<br/>
<br/>If the reviewer DID actually achieve this, and can repeat this level of performance, then they should be competing at world level for their country, and be an Olympic hopeful.

Is the barrel loose by any chance? If it wobbles in the slide housing, it can be tightened by removing the screw at the front of the barrel, which enables the slide to come off and there are two crosshead screws underneath the back of the barrel which clamp it down. If these are loose, tightening them may well help.
Written on: 07/08/2005
I have found a notch in the rifling, on the left side, there is a slight dent inside the barrel, and when the groove it's on reaches the end on the barrel, it is at the bottom, this might be marking the pellets and making them rise maybe. Also i tightened every screw in the gun, and did some repair on the trigger spring, as it snapped lol. The pellets over a 10yard range are rising at least 3 inches, it sucks, i have to aim lower and i don't know what's wrong with the gun

No it's not prohibited, but customs people don't know that much about gun laws believe it or not...there is a law here that prohibits replicas, but according to the regulations Beretta air gun is NOT a replica.... In Canada you don't need anything to own a airgun with muzzle velocity of under 500fps (for fps above that you need a firearms license and register it as a firearm :( ) If you going to try to bring it in make sure you have your manual that shows that gun shoots under 500fps. Also you should probably tell them you're brining an air pistol as they might think you're smuggling firearms and call in a swat team on you.... :o
If you want to be safe call a Canadian Firearms Centre and get a firearm reference number for the gun from a technician (1-800-731-4000) and you might want to check out these links;

Once again, many thanks, yes i did know about the regulations on replicas etc, hence my questions, but the wording is so very vague,(probably on purpose) so it makes it difficult to work out what is and what isn't a prohibited item, apparently my air soft stuff is or might not be, and my air rifles and pistols aren't or might well be even though they all look like the real thing at a glance, it's very confusing!! i will give those numbers a call, i went to the websites you mentioned, so have seen the berettas , but why spend $350 :-0 when i have same thing already that i can bring over, and keep the money in my pocket ;-), i don't have manuals but could download from the internet, that might do for them, anyway, thanks again for all the info, very helpful, cheers Dave

Hans....if you are getting 70 to 80 shots from your CO2 capsule then that seems to be about normal for these pistols and I have three - a S&W, Makarov and Crosman .338 and they all give at least 70 shots per Walther capsule.
<br>
<br>I normally 'dump' the capsule after 65 shots as the last 10 or so drop in muzzle velocity and are consequently less accurate.
<br>
<br>In the UK, buying the capsules in 50s from J S Ramsbottom, gets them at half-price. I wonder if you have deals like that in your country.
<br>
<br>Have safe CO2 fun Hans.

keep in mind that co2 is a refrigerant gas. This means when co2 changes from liquid to gas. The temperature of the area will cool because of the expansion of the gas. Because co2 is temperature based, the pressure in a co2 gun will drop if a series of rapid fire occurs. and when pressure is low, you get LOW VELOSITY (in terms low fps). It has been tested that velocities will drop more than 100fps over a long string of shots.
<br>(from my review on crosman powerlets)
<br>
<br>If you dont understand that, let me put it in simpler terms:
<br>
<br>
<br>The reason is simple. Co2 is a gas. It is compressed into a powerlet (co2 tank) when it is in the powerlet it is a liquid (because when co2 is highly compressed, It is a liquid, so basically the whole tank is filled with co2 liquid). You get low rounds on any co2 powered gun because you rapid fire (shoot fast). When you rapid fire, the powerlet ejects co2 out everytime you pull the trigger. When a lot of co2 is ejected, the tank gets extreamly cold. (it is one of the many charaistics of co2) and when the tank gets extreamly cold, the PRESSURE of the powerlet goes down, which means lower vilolcity (fps) which mean lower accuracy. My suggestion is that you give and co2 power fire arms a resting period of 15 seconds in between shots so that the powerlet warms its self back so you can shoot with max FPS that your gun can handel.

I think you have rated this gun too harshly... If it shoots and feels like a dream [to you] then you should at least give it some props. I don't think a 1 is a very reasonable score to give this pistol. i have one myself and I would give it a 9.5 for various reasons.
<br>
<br>Your rating of 1 has also affected the total rating of the pistol. I totaled the rating of the beretta and it should have been at least a 9.
<br>
<br>I have been through more than 12 co2 pistols. and by far, this is the best.

I see what your saying, but in all fairness, Umarex are supposed to be a high quality brand and I was very concerned when the same problem happened twice in a row. When it happened the first time, I took it back to the store and the guy there was confused too but suggested it may have simply been a blur in the metal. He replaced the whole block for me (I know it was new because he gave me the old block separately). That set me back another £20, and the exact same problem occured agian, so i got a refund of the whole thing plus the £20 which went to waste. It was very powerful, nice and accurate and the detail was very good. If it hadn't been for that safetly catch. I would have been thrilled even today.

Check the pellets that your using, as this gun is very accurate. I don't know what you're talking about. You just need to get better. How many rounds have you even fired through it?

I have had this gun for about a year and it has mostly been great.The best thing about it is the way it looks and feels,totally real!!!At first i had a few jams but then i either got the right idea or the gun wore in.After a while i noticed that the front sight was becoming loose,then it fell off.I take very good care of it and i am always oiling it and tightning up the screws.i am now in the process of gluing the front sight back on.One tiny ,tiny bad point is that it dosn't have the slide... Having owned the Umarex Beretta 92FS for just over 3 years now, i've not much to complain about, Yes it is heavy, and sometimes things jam up but this is true of all air pistols, I recently sold a walther cp88, Absolute rubbish, Light yes, accurate well maybe it's me but sight adjustment was never quite right!
The beretta looks great, fires great after 20-30 shots and a fresh co2, You shouldn't expect to much of co2 pistols, as they are all relatively cheap, my suggestion to you all is, try...

The beretta has a habbit of jamming, like the 9mm
<br>which was once used by the royal protection squard, which changed to the glock because the
<br>beretta kept jamming

This is another fine example of the Umarex range of pistols.
The Beretta 92F has a very realistic feel to it,weighing in at 44.4oz {1260g}.It has a Muzzle Velocity of 393fps {110m/s}.I'm getting about 60 decent shots away with each CO2 bottle and this is in our winter,so am hoping to get more out of each CO2 bottle in summer.
It is very well finished {typical German engineering}with a look that only the "real" Beretta 92f has.
It reasonably accurate,but once I get some more practice in I...

Great to read your review nzCraig. My Umarex Smith&Wesson 586 6in. has exactly the same muzzle velocity as your gun and I'm getting 66 odd shots per capsule.
<br>Its power is enough for me and I think a good balance has been struck between power and gas consumption.
<br>Can't fault the quality - in a word, impeccable and a real joy to shoot. Ahem, I won't comment on where I hit the target as I need a lot of practise.
<br>I want to write a review but only after extensive testing and capsule temperature vs. number of shots is high on the list of what I want to know.
<br>
<br>Yep, quality costs money and as someone said many years ago -' the quality remains when the price is long forgotten'. Cheers and beers pal.

Yes, I totally agree with you guys. However, I'm getting velosities of 432ish FPS for my beretta. I have the compensator version though. for testing reasons i use the gamo 7.5gr match. and for the crosman 7.9 super match, im getting velocities of 420ish fps.
<br>
<br>I to am doing a lot of research on my beretta and take a lot into consideratin (i.e. temp, season, height temp of co2 powerlet, barrel length, etc...) while I test it
<br>
<br>I'll post up a review for this once I think I have sucessfully looked at this pistol carefully

-The Umarex Beretta 92FS replica is relatively heavy , next in line after the 6" Smith & Wesson. However the grip, is not as big. While not ideal for small handed shooters, it is still relatively comfortable and easy to handle . The weight
particularly helps in keeping the gun steady , especially during double-action shooting , which gave surprisingly good groups straight out-of-the-box.
-The Gun does not shoot much high-up. Much better than the Colt. This could also be an effect of the...

I had my beretta for a year now. And I noticed a BIG difference in power between double and single action (weak in double). I deffenetly going to agree with you about the hammer spring (that is stretches).
<br>
<br>I live in Canada and I don't know whare I can get the replactmant.
<br>I you know where I can get it, please tell me.
<br>Thanks

My local dealer (Malta) usually has all spares and repairs it for me. You could also ask the dealer you bought it from or contact Umarex themselves thru email and ask for their help. Provided you manage to get the spring, it is not impossible to replace if you are minimally technical ( and willing ) to open the thing up. It can be a bit frustrating though , cause new springs are usually tough to stretch into place.

h & n hollowpoints work the best in the 92fs, no jams at all.....also you get more 'stopping' power, because of the impact of the hollowpointed slug.

reply to hardman476:
<br>I'm not saying your wrong, but if you know anything about hollow point bullets, you know that it is the mushroom effect that puts the hollow point to an advantage when hunting or trying to kill something. a regular bullet/pellet will enter and exit cleanly. (which will not kill the object rite then). however, A hollow point enters small, and exits big, thus creating a larger exit wound and a later impact through out.
<br>
<br>Besides that, you also have to take into consideration the lb/ft.

Overall this has been a fun gas gun to shoot; it's the perfect weight (heavier than the real thing) and balanced just so, looks great and fits in the hand nicely. Only major problem is that with the heavier pellets the muzzle velocity drops quite noticeably - but then I suppose that's a problem with all co2 guns as they're not that powerful. Overall though I'd recommend it to all, and it's certainly the best of all the co2 guns on sale. (read more)

The Umarex Beretta 92FS is an amazing piece of engineering, as well as an amazing "piece". Firstly the perfect balance, allows rock steady shooting, secondly the power and accuracy are just awesome and lastly the build quality of this gun is the best you will ever see.....ohh and get yourself a silencer, it makes a noticeable difference. BUY ONE!!
(i own the nickel version with plastic grips as i was told the wooden grips crack easily)

My Umarex Beretta 92FS doesn't seem to be shooting, even though the gas works. It blows gas out, but the pellet stops halfway down the barrel. Can anyone help?

I appreciate your review of this pistol as I do put a lot of stock in what others think about an item before I purchase it. Especially if it is coming from someone that has purchased, used and then taken the time to write a review however I do have to respond to your reference to the "number of reviews I read where people are unable to spell the words correctly", if I am not mistaken, you actually mispelled "pressure" by spelling it presure. I do not think this takes away from your value in reviewing this pistol, I just feel that a lot of people that review items may not use the computer a lot so their typing skills may be somewhat lacking as well as some people are not great spellers in general but that doesn't take away from their review value. Just my input as I am not trying to call you out. Thanks again for your review! This pistol looks pretty cool.
