“Good but needs a little work”

Written on: 07/02/2013 by Jason10808

Thorpe Park is an excellent theme park with alot of thrill rides, it is great for teenagers and has some of the best roller coasters in the country, the new ride the Swarm has very good themeing and is a very exciting roller coaster seeing as your sat on the side of the track, but it is a little tacky and organised, i visited in April of 2012, all of the rides were open and as far as i was aware none of them closed, i do not really mind if they close a ride, because after all it is all... “Thorpe Park is the best!!!!!”

Written on: 27/01/2013 by kidcustard14 (1 review written)

As it says in my review title, thorpe park is simply the best. Every thrill ride is great and scary at the same time. The swarm which was new for 2012 was awesome, although I was absolutely petrified, especially when we got to the top and saw that we were going to go upside down before we thought! I liked Saw the ride the best as it is one of the scariest there along with stealth. Stealth was probably the highest ride i'd ever been on in my life let alone the highest in the park. I didn't... “Great Day Out”

Written on: 14/01/2013 by paulabeth4 (2 reviews written)

This is a great park for small kids. i took my 7 year old and 9 year old and they had a great day and smiled all the way home. Great rides both fast and not so fast!! Great stalls and shops sellinf merchandise. The only con is the price of the day out. Be prepared to spend a good bit of money. Tickets are nearly £100 for a family. Overall though worth taking the kids and better than Chessington or Lego land but not as good as Disney Paris or Alton Towers. (read more)

“Spoilt at the end of the day”

Written on: 05/10/2012 by Sarahlouise21

My best friend and I visited the park for the first time today. We were so excited! The rides we went on were amazing. The food we ate was ok too. The only 2 things that really let the day down were, the ride, Colosuss was closed and we had to wait an hour for a bus back to the closest railway station of Staines. There were over 400 people standing in the cold, some couldn't fit under the canopy and were out in the rain! The park closed at 5pm so naturally the bus stop quickly filled up.... (read more)

Visited Thorpe park in May. I am 13, I visited with my sister(11), 2 stepsisters(13 and 9), mum and stepdad. Were all thrill seekers and prepared to go on pretty much anything. Queues wernt very long as long as you time it right. Eg. Swarm was 70 mins at beginning of the day but later on was only 10. went on swarm 4 times, despite the fact it broke down whilst we were in the queue. Went on stealth twice, collosus once because of very long queue, nemisis inferno twice , and lots of other... (read more)

I loved swarm and I went on it twice, I would go on it all day! Everyone on this forum are complaining about the queues but the queues here aren't a bad as other theme parks and attually, all theme parks have queues do everyone should stop complaining!! “Dirty, unmaintained and rude staff”

Written on: 09/08/2012 by simviator (4 reviews written)

I've been a fan of Thorpe Park in the past. But we visited this week and I will simply NEVER go back! I decided to treat my daughter to a 'fab day out' so bought ultimate fast track for 2 - online. Very expensive but I thought it would be worth it as we'd go on a multitude of great rides and have a brilliant day to remember. WRONG! Got there. Stealth, our no. 1 ride, not working. 'Hopefully get it working later' was the answer. Went to Saw. Had to wait 20 mins while they loaded another car... (read more)

Thank you very much for posting this review. All feedback is very valuable to us and the comments you expressed were extremely valid in helping us to decide where we need to place our main focus. I was most disappointed to learn of the difficulties you experienced when you came and would like to offer my sincere apologies that your visit should have been marred in this way. Giving all our guests a fun and thrilling day is extremely important to everyone here but unfortunately we sometimes make some vital mistakes. Regarding your problems with staff, we have passed this case onto our customer service manager who will follow up on the issue and take all actions necessary.

Regarding the KFC prices, as KFC is a franchise it is not owned by us but a external individual. The prices are standard in all KFC branch's and set by the KFC group. We have no say in determining prices.

Regarding the car park prices, we are following our sister parks Alton Towers and LEGOLAND Windsor however Alton Towers charges £7 for parking. We are charging for parking to help upgrade our car park and entrance to give a better first impression for guests. Many people may think that we have the money to do this but in fact we are still paying of the £20 million debt for THE SWARM.

Regarding the opening times, our admissions team are not allowed to open before the stated time due to council requirements and in the morning the rides are being tested and the park is being prepared for the day ahead.

Once again I apologize for you difficulties and we have taken on board all your comments!

Regards,

THORPE PARK

“Don't bother”

Written on: 03/06/2012

Not a family park, only suitable for adults, very few rides that's why the queues are so long. Some staff are really rude, spotty teenagers. That's the scary part to think they are in control of the controls!! Only 2-3 rides worth waiting for, rush and the new one, rest are rubbish... Either make you feel sick or Plain boring. Thank you very much for taking the time to email me after your visit to Thorpe Park. All feedback is very valuable to us and the comments you expressed were extremely valid in helping us to decide where we need to place our main focus.

I was most disappointed to learn of the difficulties you experienced when you came and would like to offer my sincere apologies that your visit should have been marred in this way. Giving all our guests a fun and thrilling day is extremely important to everyone here but unfortunately sometimes we make some vital mistakes.

Sorry that you thought that the park was not suitable for families. Our target market is the teenage market and I would like to recommend our sister park Chessington World of Adventures for a family day out.

Our ride controllers are all over 18 years of age and have gone under intensive training. During the course of their time with us we also conduct "bite-size" quick fire sessions of training. We have a strict policy regarding ride controllers and have not had one incident that it the fault of the ride controller.

Sorry that you didn't like some of our rides. As I have said, we have a specific target market and we try to install rides that they would enjoy and undergo years of planning and focus groups.

Once again apologies!

Thorpe park is absolutely the best theme park in europe!!!! Although it hasn't got as much family appeal as drayton manor its thrill rides make up for that only disadvantage. Stealth is definitely the best ride that was until the swarm came about no that has taken the number one spot- it's amazing and the band who wrote the song (youmeatsix) are just as great. “Don't go unless you're a celebrity”

Written on: 16/05/2012

Our day at Thorpe Park was spoilt by the visit of Alexandra Burke who apparently could not bear to mix with other human beings. Therefore the Saw ride was held up for 30 minutes so she could go on undisturbed. I felt that everyone was treated like cattle in order to allow this woman to get her selfish way. Afterwards she even had the gall to yell and scream at people for complaining! The management really need to stop pandering to trumped up celebrities and prioritise the paying public who... Okay, so I don't get why so many theme park reviews go on about how the day was 'terrible' because of 'queues' and 'overcrowding'... every theme park in the world will have this same feature. However, if you're willing to look past this, then Thorpe Park offers a spectacular day out. And hey- queueing can even be entertaining if you're there with people you get on well with and Thorpe Park do all they can to make their queue lines as amazingly themed, fun and interesting as possible. We ensured we got there for opening time which was a good plan as we managed 2 rides on stealth and 1 on Nemesis Inferno without Q'ing! For me Thorpe Park is now the number one place for high octane thrills in the UK. The 5 big roller coasters are superb and on the day I visited no queue was longer than 30 mins which in theme park is pretty good (Alton Towers was closer to 180 mins!) Stealth and SAW are incredible rides that'll get even the most hardened adrenalin junkie sweating while Inferno and Colossus also tick al the right boxes. As a first time visitor to this tourist attraction it was a great disappointment. We felt like the venue owners did not really care whether or not you had a good time. It was all about taking your money and leaving you to it. On the plus side I can only list the well kept nature of the grounds and vegetation. On the negative side: One major ride attraction at Thorpe Park(tidal wave) broke down in the morning and could not be offered to customers for the rest of the day. The day was very... (read more)

This was a great day out and we had lots of fun. I found that the Merlin Premium pass was very good as you skip the ticketing queue and go straight in. All you do is turn round put your butties in your car or the lokecr and walk 2 minutes outside to eat it on a picnic area, if you saw what us staff find in some bags and pockets you'd be glad for a small delay in getting into the park and being searched. Weapons and drugs im sure you don't want round your children same with drunken tramps or stag/hen parties rampaging around in inappropriate attire when its a family park .
