SOMERFIELD
Its such a shame that only peoples bad views get put on this website, I am a supervisor in a small Somerfield/Forecourt. We are near a housing estate and have three rivals all with in a five minute walk. We are busy all of the time and we pride ourselves on having great customer service, and running a very efficient convienience store (although we arn't so proud of our spelling!) We have 100's of satisfied customers and the odd customer who isn't - but you can't please all of the people all of the time, but you can try. Every one wants something different, but because we offer all of the above and more that is why our customers choose us. So please - can people write about the good experiences as well as the bad...

on visiting our local somerfield store today, my husband asked for his bonus stamp to be applied to his account as in item three ' If you've collected 29 stamps by 29 April 2009, we'll give you a £1 bonus stamp absolutely free' He was refused this and told he could only receive this along with the other bonus stamps when redeemed from11th November 2009. Thus ensued an embarassing scene where three members of staff backed up the first person without consulting head office. He is now worrie ...- Read Guest's review (122 words)

Glad that the Co-Op are taking them over; they may be able to improve their appalling management and shop-running skills.- Read Guest's review (67 words)

Customer service is poor. Staff do not like to be interrupted by customers when they are busy having a good chat to each other, even when they are on till duty. This is our experience admittedly based on the branch in Blackfen, Kent. The Manager doesn't take too kindly to anyone complaining about this either. Needless to say we no longer shop there!- Read Guest's review (72 words)

We have used the Porthcawl branch on many occasions, and love doing so. The friendly staff always have a smile and seem genuinely pleased to see you. They always have a good stock of offers and basics, and the Tchibo concession is very useful.- Read nathanjay46's review (50 words)

Yesterday will be my last time to shop in Somerfield, Sydenham branch. When I noticed that the cashier had put a wrong product and wrong price on my bill, I went back to the store next day asked for a refund. After a not very enjoyable conversation with the staff she finally agreed for the refund but added I do it for you this time only for good will. I was amazed and thought who was doing who a favor here? I said, you owe me an apology. I am sorry if you think that way, she said. I demanded to ...- Read Guest's review (278 words)

I have just returned from visting the Somerfield store at 5a St James Street, Brighton, BN1 1RE and wish to complain on two accounts. I was behind an australian lady in the queue who was buying alcohol. The lady was asked for ID she stated that she was 24 (which she definitely looked) but happily provided her passport. She was told that this was not acceptable as it was 'Foreign ID'. This seemed utterly ridiculous to me, as on this basis, how could a foreign person ever buy alcohol at all? And, ...- Read Guest's review (325 words)

The staff at Somerfield seem demoralised by the way they are treated and paid, etc.! Since they were taken over, they have gone right down. There are lots of price increases, loads of lines discontinued, have to go else where for things, so might as well get everything in Tescos or where ever.- Read wolves's review (62 words and 1 comment)

Somerfield has fantastic offers on ambient and fresh foods. the stores layout is easy to get around. (I once spent 4hrs in Tesco) because the store was over sized and nothing in a prioritised order I simply lost track of time. Ridiculous.....- Read deeb121's review (118 words)

I was very impressed by the customer service provided to me. The staff there seem exceptionally helpful, and I liked the way they had every intention to keep check-out queues down as much as possible by opening up new tills when it got busy. All the shelving was practically full. I could find everything I wanted too.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone. It is a very good supermarket.- Read Yabasic's review (114 words)

I usually shop at Tesco's in Tiverton, Devon. For a change I tried Somerfield, Market Walk, Tiverton. I was delighted with the quality and freshness of the fresh food available. There were loads of great deals too.
The ambient side of the store was great, and it had everything I needed. I was very surprised as it is only a small store. The staff were very helpful as soon as I walked into the door until I walked out.- Read devonlad6699's review (124 words and 1 comment)

Somerfield has gone way down in my estimation. What was once a pretty good, if cheapish store, is now a shambles. One drab competition after another, a loyalty card that doesn't really pay off, and over priced stock are the nail in the coffin for this store.
In my local, I can't even get frozen chicken fillets-something I'd imagine every store should have.
The staff have been awful since the store opened-a hangover from the superior Kwik Save it replaced.
There is no where to pack your bag-ot ...- Read Oswin's review (117 words and 4 comments)

Somerfield is a good store! Staff are helpful. The store is very clean. You don't have to wait too long in a queue, but the downside is you don't really get a bargain.- Read alex05's review (60 words)

Having used the Somerfield store in Dover Kent for sometime, I was utterly amazed when the manger asked me to leave the shop, because I asked if the chicken would be reduced in price, having complained to his superiors they too were equally as arrogant, ignorant.
Do yourself a favour shop at Asda.- Read allcrap's review (60 words)

Somerfield - 06:10:04 Today I visited Shipston on Stour branch with the special offers leaflet and I was disgusted to find that where the offers should be I found the shelves and bins were empty. This is a small town and I try to purchase general items to keep the town alive and help the small retailers as much as I can.- Read 6335 51601 50327 84380's review (60 words)
