“Poor customer service”

Written on: 13/06/2013

Guarantee only covered the thermostat in the Dove shower mixer bar - no other components of the shower assembly! Poor quality nylon fixing broke dropping the heavy shower head onto the the bath causing a crack on the surface. Customer service non compromising when I explained what happened and no discount on the replacement shower head!. Buy Triton product at your own risk and don’t expect satisfactory customer service if things go wrong!!! (read more)

“Triton unhelpfull and not able to compromise”

Written on: 17/03/2013

We bought a Triton Aspirante power shower and had it installed by our plumber. Imeadiatly after it was connected to the water supply it began leaking. When we contacted the supplier,Plumbase, we were told we had to contact the manufacturer. They sent an engineer, he refused to even look at it as the plumbing deviated from Tritons instructions, they charged me £68. The plumber had taken the supply from the bath tap supplies, mainly because of the diffculty in providing a dedicated supply at... (read more)

“Unhappy with Triton”

Written on: 12/04/2012

I had a Triton shower installed in a newly built property around 2009. Since then it has broken down twice. On the first breakdown, the Triton engineer persuaded me to pay £49.75 for an extended warranty. Now that it has broken down for a second time, Triton have refused to repair the shower free of charge under the warranty, saying that the problem is due to scale in my water. They have refused to refund the warranty cost to me and are charging £120 for removing the limescale. This is... (read more)

“So much trouble!”

Written on: 27/03/2012

We had a Triton T80si pumped shower installed by electricians around ten years ago. From the start the on/off switch kept sticking. Nice as he was, the Triton engineer couldn't work out why it kept sticking. Apparently, they'd never come across the problem before and couldn't reproduce it at their testing place. Unable to diagnose the fault he replaced the cover and it rectified the problem. I did take umbrage at the suggestion from Triton head office that it must have been the soap, shampoo... (read more)

Less than 12 months old and it is clear to me, (and Triton design backroom staff?) that their has been a MAJOR design fault in that no matter how the remote/control panel is placed and secured the buttons are NOT waterproof therefore seepage soon renders the circuit board faulty as the conducting circuits rust/corrode and short out. A Triton (sub contractor) engineer has already been twice and when my email with photos of the fault arrives at Triton customer service and is actioned I trust... (read more)

Easy enough to fit as it was a Triton replacement. I installed a tank in the loft just above the shower which was also easy. Turned the shower on expecting some noise after all it is a pump but wow.....these things are very noisy and the water power from the handset is pretty feeble. I could not recommend this shower because of these two factors and if customer service reviews are anything to go by how the heck is this company still trading? Overall very disappointing. The reason you would have been disappointed with the shower's performance is because the t80si is NOT a pumped shower. It is an electric shower which should always be connected to the mains cold feed and never tank fed. The noise you heard was probably your shower struggling for it life. I think anyone reading this post should be aware of this fact first.

Written on: 07/12/2010 by Hep 10 (1 review written)

I bought the Triton T300si mainly because the remote pack with all the electrical bits and pump were situated outside the bathroom so increasing the safety aspect. However my electrician could not get the shower to work and spent a whole day trying everything possible. After spending £6.00 ringing Triton 0844 no.an engineer came out and replaced Printed Circuit Board, a factory mistabke. I wrote to Triton to ask for compensation for my electrican's time but they would not and a weak apology... (read more)

We bought a triton shower in October 2006 and within the warranty period it developed a fault with the on/off switch which was repaired free of charge. We were told it was very unusual and we were just unlucky.A year later the same fault occurred but the part was well out of warranty so we were charged £100 to get it replaced.
The customer service was curt to say the least. Since then another fault has developed with the thermostat and we are expected to pay another £100.We were told it was... (read more)

I bought a triton T80si 10.5kw unit as a replacement for a Mira. When installed the unit did not fully heat the water and also the pressure was much lower than my previous shower. I therefore returned it to the shop where I purchased it from and was given a replacement. Following the replacement units installation the hot water did heat up however to a lower than expected temperature and agin with much reduced pressure. The T80Si is one of the worst showers available. It is very noisy, when it is being used we can hear it from any room in the house. It has such a low pressure output you would be lucky if you can even get clean from it.
I am a Master Carpenter/Joiner & Electrical Engineer with a substantial knowledge in Plumbing.
I have not come across a shower of such poor quality as this and would highly recommend avoiding this model. (read more)

I thought I was getting a good deal when I paid £128 for a Triton rapide 4 Plus shower. After 8 months the Pressure Relief Value blew. £10 to replace a very small piece of plastic + a quote of £50 to fit and guess what not covered by the guarantee. At just over 2 year mark and out of guarantee the Power PCB went. It cost over £100 to replace. The electrition cheerfully told me that this was typical of this model. The Pressure Relief Value has just blown again (3 year old). Steer... (read more)

Written on: 27/04/2009 by FedUpWithFreemans

Love it! We live at the end of the water supply line, so every time new houses are built in our area we lose yet more precious pressure. We've gone through 4 showers in 5 years - none of them better than the last, until shower number 5, the Triton T80si 9.5kw. Being a pumped shower we were advised there would be noise but it isn't deafening or obscene. We had ours installed by a professional plumber [this time] and would strongly recommend this to anyone where the installation involves a... (read more)

Written on: 07/06/2008

I replaced an older Triton with the T80si about three years ago and am completely happy with it. I don't understand the comments about noise (just been to check!) and when it is running you can't hear the shower above the noise of the water landing in the bath - and that in turn would be less than the extractor fan if it was switched on in the bathroom! I chose it because the price was so good and also because I knew the installation would be simplest replacing like for like.

The council refurbed my flat which included a new shower (the t80si) my original shower, the T90 was perfect (very powerful jet and not noisy) the same cannot be said for the T80si

I am very disappointed. (read more)

Tcplumbing's Comment

Written on: 07/12/2008

Hi there.... If the local council have fitted it.., I'd have it checked over by a qualified Plumber! There maybe something daft like a ball-o-fix valve been fitted in the main supply to the unit. This will reduce / restrict the flow of water to the shower from 15mm diameter to approx 5mm!!! They should never be used. A full bore valve should always be used. Check this first, it's the most common mistake made by DIY'ers and people who aren't properly trained.

I bought Triton as I thought it was a recognised make. There was no warning the unit would be noisy, had I been aware of this I would have looked at an alternative method. Pressure head is 0.15 Bar (1.5meters) I thought with the addition of a pump this would have given a much better pressure. (read more)

1. The Triton T80 doesn't have a pump fitted to it.
2. They're almost silent in operation. (If you're is noisy.. then theres a fault.. or it's been installed incorrectly!)
3. If you have fitted / or have had a pump fitted to your incoming water main.., then you have broken the law and wasted your money. A pump will not increase your water mains pressure... It'll just damage your pump and make lots of noise!
Hope this helps a little.

“Triton T80Si 9.5kw - Given a choice of about 3 or 4...”

Written on: 27/06/2005 by VirginiaS (2 reviews written)

Triton T80Si 9.5kw - Given a choice of about 3 or 4 products by my plumber 2 years ago, I chose Triton as it was a brand I had heard of.

I have never been satisfied with the shower head, which is far too heavy to hold when manipulating it to wash my hair. If I just stand beneath the shower the water spray alone is not forceful enough to penetrate my hair, let alone wash out the shampoo. I live on the first floor and the water comes from the cold inlet so it should not be a pressure... (read more)

Absolutely agree with Virginia's summary, although she obviously has more hair.

Pressure in winter is poor on hot but OK in summer. Family always complaining about this.

Shower is on ground floor so normal pressure should be no problem.

Every electric shower has this issue.... Unless you're going for a 10.8 kW monster... and even some of those have issues!... Its all down to the way the unit heats up the water... To get hotter water... the mechanics of the shower slow (staunch) the flow of water over the heating element so it heats it up more... hence... less water to the shower outlet.

The cooler you want the water, the more water is allowed to flow over the element and thus more delivery at the shower head.

The only way to obtain awesome pressure is by fitting a mixer shower (Using a tank fed system) and installing a pump. (expensive!)

As a plumber and a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen, I fit Triton showers regularly and recommend them to all my clients. For the price.., roughly around £120..Sometimes a lot cheaper in end of season sales! They're superb value for money. I've fitted Mira Sports showers with 10.5kW ratings that are no better then these little crackers! Obviously, the Mira series are still excellent quality but if you look at a Mira Sport at around £240.. and compare it to the Triton at HALF THAT... (read more)

I can't help feeling that, being a plumber, this review is slightly biased. All end user reviews (not plumbers) are not favourable of this shower, but this could be down to being installed by anyone other than a professional plumber/electrician - subseqently the only reason for poor performance is incorrect installation. I do totally accept the low pressure problems and differences between Triton and Mira. I would never buy Mira, especially now.
