    Regarding Classmates.com

I registered several months ago and pd for the Gold Membership. In losing interest quickly (as none of my friends were on there)I barely signed on to the website. Since then I've gotten married, moved and changed my e-mail address. Recently I've tried to sign back on, since I did pay for the service; but now cannot remember my password. In trying to use the "forgot password" feature, they will send me a new password to access my account but they will only send it to the e-mail address they already have on file- which is no longer active.

The only other option I was given is to re-register. However, upon trying to do so I received an edit that they already have me on file. They ask me for my password....which I don't have.....they will e-mail a temporary one to my closed acct..... See where this is going?

In summary, don't waist your time, hard earned dollars and mental energy... Your better off calling the parents of the classmates you really want to get in touch with. Doubt they'll ask you for a password.

On September 29,2009 I noticed a charge to my debit card from classmates.com. It was for the yearly gold membership. Problem was that I didn't authorize such a purchase. I had purchased a membership in 2008,and because of the economy decided to forgo it this year.

Went to their website and they sure know how to hide their contact information. Many clicks later I finally found a place to email. Told them to put the money back into my account. Here's their first response.

I only clicked on one star, as there was not an option for "no" stars. Recently, I went on classmates.com to find my sister's friends to sadly inform them of my sister's passing away. In my effort to complete the detailed form, I didn't realize the "automatic" is set up for continued payments, instead of a prompt allowing you to choose one or the other before proceeding. My account was debited the monthly fee, so I thought a simple explanation would allow them to reimburse me, as I just notic ...

It sounds good, but once you pay to access its services, there is little that is meaningful as guestbook entries, for example, only have the name of the person who signed it.
I had been a member willingly for the three months which I authorize payment for and now find myself continuing a membership which I do not want despite many efforts to cancel it. I do not recommend Classmates.com.

Classmates is another website which enables you to register yourself, saying which schools/universities you attended and fill in your details so that you can find old friends and acquaintances and they can find you. This is great in concept, but, as the profile information they ask for is actually a series of ridiculous multiple choice questions, most people don't fill them out. And you can't view other profiles unless you fill yours out. And you can't get ANY information unless you pay a su ...
