I was one of the earliest users and subscribers of Classmates. It was great then but no longer. It does have just one good feature now and that is the reproduction of some of the class yearbooks (not all) that you would want. The price is reasonable for the books and the quality is good. I'm only a member now because they gave me some sort of "special" (reasonable) rate for a two year renewal. In the beginning it was easy to make photo albums but they have messed those up now, also. It... (read more)

Classmates.com has seemed to added a bunch of yearbooks to their site. I found mine that I had lost and purchased a yearbook reprint. I received as promised and my kids got a kick out of seeing me in my old yearbook. I then went back and found my Mom's 1959 Yearbook which she hadn't seen in years. I know a lot of people knock Classmates, but I really like their yearbook offering. I thought it was easy to find the yearbooks I was interested in. Thanks. (read more)

Stay away from classmates.com.
They trap you into a one year membership and refuse to refund when you protest. They should be investigated by the Attorney General. They count on no one willing to make a stink over $30. What a sleaze outfit.

This site is a rip off. Very hard to navigate. I was charged a fee without notice. The only thing they would do is tell me to go in and change status to manual, then next year at this time they won't charge another fee. Terrible customer service. I would give them a 0 rating! (read more)

Well they are really doing a great job. I will not say that they work for money even i do not care that why they are providing such a damn good service. I found my old friends so that is enough for me. (read more)

What a worthless site. It is designed to tempt you into being a paid member through lies and misrepresentation. You need a legal degree to determine that everything they offer is really only hypothetical. In reality they deliver only the idea, no substance. Oh, and try to drop your membership! You will start unsolicited unrated messages on your facebook! (read more)

Classmates is a big rip off. they do not pre warn you that they are withdrawing money from your checking account before hand. with the way the ecomony is you think a e-mail warning would be fair.
you can find more friends and class mates for free on facebook with out paying a fee.
I called them at 206-301-5900 and they said no way would they refund the charge they are heartless cold non-caring people
I give them no stars the system sucks in in by saying someone is trying to e-mail you...

STUNG! Like many of the reviewers before me due to the website being user unfriendly and getting spaming emails saying "Jennifer S. wants to make contact with you!" I signed up for the Classmates Gold Membership. A year later, without warning BANG you get a charge out of no where. $42.92 was my charge (because I live in Australia)
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THE GOLD MEMBERSHIP! Use Facebook instead....free and user friendly. Don't be sucked in!
I'm strongly considering disputing the charge.

Suckered into Gold membership after emails saying old friends were trying to reach me. No one did. Their web site was very difficult to get help from. A job and email change ended the SPAM from them, but I couldn't log into the accouint anymore. Tried to quit last year, but couldn't get through nor log into account. This year I have spent lots of time chatting back and forth with classmates.com, learning that they default to auto renew, too bad for me. No refund policy, became my fault that... (read more)

Sorry to say but I agree with the earlier reviews. When I first registered 2 years ago I found the site very user unfriendly. I upgraded to Gold but nothing really changed. Help from the site is useless. I didn't renew my membership last year but they took the money from my credit card account anyway.
I get email garbage from them constantly. I've asked to have it stopped but my emails to them are ignored, in fact I began to get more garbage. To make sure they don't steal money from me again...

Regarding Classmates.com
I registered several months ago and pd for the Gold Membership. In losing interest quickly (as none of my friends were on there)I barely signed on to the website. Since then I've gotten married, moved and changed my e-mail address. Recently I've tried to sign back on, since I did pay for the service; but now cannot remember my password. In trying to use the "forgot password" feature, they will send me a new password to access my account but they will only send it...

On September 29,2009 I noticed a charge to my debit card from classmates.com. It was for the yearly gold membership. Problem was that I didn't authorize such a purchase. I had purchased a membership in 2008,and because of the economy decided to forgo it this year.
Went to their website and they sure know how to hide their contact information. Many clicks later I finally found a place to email. Told them to put the money back into my account. Here's their first response.
Hello Classmates...

I found this review very helpful because...

IT SHOWS JUST HOW DECEPTIVE CLASSMATES BUSINESS MODEL IS...which is intentional! CLASSMATES knows that most people will just live with having being billed for the undesired extra year and they can keep the profit.

B.T.W., the fees that CLASSMATES charges are way over the line of reasonableness for the product that they are delivering...they are preying on the customer's desperateness to contact long lost friends and acquaintances.

I only clicked on one star, as there was not an option for "no" stars. Recently, I went on classmates.com to find my sister's friends to sadly inform them of my sister's passing away. In my effort to complete the detailed form, I didn't realize the "automatic" is set up for continued payments, instead of a prompt allowing you to choose one or the other before proceeding. My account was debited the monthly fee, so I thought a simple explanation would allow them to reimburse me, as I just... (read more)

It sounds good, but once you pay to access its services, there is little that is meaningful as guestbook entries, for example, only have the name of the person who signed it.
I had been a member willingly for the three months which I authorize payment for and now find myself continuing a membership which I do not want despite many efforts to cancel it. I do not recommend Classmates.com.

I found this review very helpful because... I had the same experience. These guys are horrible. Apparently I have been charged their $39 fee 4 times and have been unable to cancel until I got my bank involved. Stay away from these guys.

Classmates is another website which enables you to register yourself, saying which schools/universities you attended and fill in your details so that you can find old friends and acquaintances and they can find you. This is great in concept, but, as the profile information they ask for is actually a series of ridiculous multiple choice questions, most people don't fill them out. And you can't view other profiles unless you fill yours out. And you can't get ANY information unless you pay... (read more)

I found this review very helpful because...classmates business model, which involves over charging for the product provided and the tactic of luring the customer in by using the bait and switch tactic, and then blocking the registrant from all useful information is totally unethical. Now add to that the tactic of charging the customer's credit card even when they have stopped renewing IS CRIMINAL.
