I bought my Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9 about a month ago for £1600 with 170,000 on the clock but had been fitted with a recon engine in 2001 and that had only done 24,000 in the last 7 years! It has the up rated ECU on it so problems with the idling isn ' t a problem. I love the car and its power is amazing for the age of the car. In the past few weeks I have looked over mine ready for its MOT and found, both boots of the anti-roll bar links at the front ripped. One track rod end boot ripped, (t ...

It's the best car ever made by Peugeot, I have driven a lot of cars but this small GTI will forever take a place in my heart.

Absolute driving heaven! Getting new front end for my immaculate limited ed. (as soon as the insurance give me a decent offer) and LPG conversion on me other one.

(For information my Ltd ed. has les bhp as standard than my other one)

The Peugeot 205 is a great all-day vehicle, but only if you got the money for the gas, and real fast on twisting roads... almost a race car!

I own a highly subtle modified Peugeot 205 1.9 GTi and love it. It handles brilliantly, goes well and shows up newer more expensive cars!

This is one of those cars that everybody has to own. I'd wanted one for years, and the wait was worth it. I doubt anyone will ever understand the 205 GTI, unless they have driven one. It was, in my mind, a final flurry of craziness in a politically correct world. You're aware of how thin the panels are, and the engine sounds like a bag of spanners on idle. The steering is ridiculously heavy. And then you pull away, and when you escape the city, suddenly everything makes sense. I've never driven ...

One of the beat all round cars ever made, not just the GTi but the 205 its self was and still is a good car. why don't people make cars like this anymore.

Anybody who is thinking of buying a Peugeot 205 1.9, go for it! Remember and check the rear axel, and don't let your missus make you sell it, like me. If you need any advice, just leave a message on the Review Centre forum.

Thrashes my mate's Vauxhall Vectra 2.5 v6 at the traffic lights. Although it sticks to the road like its on rails you can easily lose control of the car as I've found out when I put myself in hospital for 2 weeks.

Many years ago, when they were still being made (and therefore desirable) I drove to Paris in one of these. It was very fast, and looked great. Twenty years ago, along with the Ford Sierra, this car opened up a fresh new wave of car design. Now they are being driven by the kind of people who would have once looked at it with envious eyes, and I doubt there's one left in the entire country that hasn't been thrashed almost to death.

This Peugeot 205 is amazing. The car has fantastic accelleration also a good top speed. Handling is also a good point but my friends Golf can get round the corners quicker. The look is brill, this car is all I wanted since I started driving and I was not disappointed.

I have had my Peugeot 205 for 12 months now and I've never been in anything quite so frightening in my life! I have recently had a 1.6 gearbox fitted to my 1.9 engine and my God does it fly.

What a great car. I love my 205 1.9 GTi, it sticks to the road like glue and when you hit the pedal on the right she goes like stink.
The suspension is hard, which means there's very little body roll, but also means a bumpy ride, though the seats themselves are comfortable, with good side supports which hold well through the corners. The car's very torquey, which is nice when going up steep hills or turning into junctions, as you can leave it in 3rd and rarely have to change down.
    The interi ...

45 mph in 1st gear 70 in second my mate's type R don't do that, The pug pulls at least 3 car lengths on him to 90 mph then he canes me, well its got 200 bhp and a bit more technology. His type R ran a 16/1 and a 15/9.... poor type R cant touch the old skool.

I commute 120 miles a day in my Peugeot 205 1.9 GTi, and it's never missed a beat. Fast enough for most, but it's the corners where it all happens. An epic car.
