Good Points: Well written and presented, shows history in an entertaining fashion.Schama makes history easy to understand and, more importantly, he makes it fun.
Bad Points: Obviously 5000 years is a lot to cover and the further back in time the scarcer the sources, but he talks about 3000bc and then it jumps to the roman conquest nearly 3000 years later. Thus, this should really be 54bc to 2000ad.
General comments: Simon Schama's History of Britain is a brilliant exploration into our history. His presentation style is educational without being sniffy like some history programs. His episodes are ideal in length for the casual observer who want to learn more about British history. They can also lead you on to the books which accompany the television series if you want to delve more deeply into our rich history. This series is, in my opinion, the best program to be made about British history which entertains and educates in equal measures.
