The South Island of New Zealand is stunning! It is significantly different from the North Island. From the ferry trip across the Cook Strait to each and every town/city you visit...you will be amazed.
In spring just after the school holidays (early October) is a great time to go. It isn't as busy at this time & you can pick up cheaper deals for skiing etc. because it's not peak season.
