Good Points: 'Texas Flood', 'Lenny' and 'Wham'.
Bad Points: Lack of original material. Stevie sweating.
General comments: Stevie Ray Vaughan And Double Trouble - Live At The El Mocambo - I feel that the many reviews that were submited were perhaps overblown and did not fault this DVD enough. Despite the many good points (i.e. excellent atmosphere and indeed music), I feel that Stevie Ray, albeit his menacing performance and limitless ideas performed too many blues standards that one would expect to find at a downtown local blues club. Perhaps it is his own lack of material early on in his career that inspired him to perform such similar songs like 'Tell me' and 'Lovestruck Baby'. In all, I think there are only 4 originals on this DVD, so it's more like a cover concert unlike many of Stevie's performances. However, the finale of this DVD is amazing and just gets better from his perhaps best ever performance of 'Texas Flood', right through to the beautifully lyrical 'Lenny' to the upbeat boogie of 'Wham'.
