      I found this film very lame and quite laborious.

      The plot wasn't engaging at all to me, the acting was in part OK but overall sub-standard and the characters I had no real affinity with.

      Its not utterly dire, but its a long way from being a great.

      If its on TV and you're bored maybe try it, but definitely dont rush out to get it on DVD

      The Hunt For Red October has a great plot, character development, themes, storyline, details, imagery. The book on which it is based is a great book. Among the best i have ever read. It helps to see the movie first so you understand the book. Then, read it and after that watch the movie again.
