I ordered a plant pot which was described as blue. When it arrived the colour was more a green/turquoise than blue. The packing was poor, and it was pure luck that it arrived in one piece. The parcel took six days to arrive and there was no tracking. When other companies offer next day delivery as standard I don't think this is good enough. Habitat need to get their act together.

I purchased a mirror from habitat, only to find it smashed when i got home. Returned it back to the kings road store, London. Staff replaced it and informed me that there four other mirrors in the same range which were also smashed. I was please that they told me this as I was reassured that it was not me who smashed it on the way home. However, it made me wonder if habitat is all that it is cracked up to be on the quality control front. 2nd purchase: tatsuma wardrobe. Ordered on line. Did not arrive on time due some out of stock issue. It finally arrived is morning. Very frustrating that the screw joints are out of sync so one door cannot be attached and the other needs complete re-alignment. I was going to purchase a kitchen from Habitat but will now probably go elsewhere. Just not worth the risk!

Purchased Chaise Longue and Armchair from Scala leather range in store at about GBP 2000,-. After less than three years of occasional use the Chaise Longue already showed significant sagging at the seating end, suggesting poor foam padding. As Habitat has gone into administration in June 2011, they are not required to care about potential prior warranties, but as the range was still being sold in store, I would expect someone to show some interest in customer experience with their product. I was also interested in what warranties would be offered if I bought the same product now. I spoke to several branch staff, where answers ranged from "1 month, after which one should know if there is a problem" to "our quality is that good, that we don't need any warranty". According to the final customer service staff I spoke to maximum warranty appears to be one year, which I don't consider long for a sofa at that sort of price level. Also, whilst branches still stocked the product, the website didn't and after further enquiry it seems that the product is being discontinued, perhaps due to a quality problem? This might be the only positive thing, indicating that might be trying to improve. Some Habitat furniture may better pass the test of time, but I would not want to take chances and buy furniture intended for longer-term use. Customer care also seems to be lacking, certainly with even senior branch staff.

I ordered a coffee table and paid for it straight away. It was supposedly in stock. When I hadn't heard anything after a couple of weeks I contacted Habitat to be told there was a problem with their system and the carrier couldn't recognise my postcode. My house is not a new build. I've had several calls and emails and have even spoken to the carrier twice. Today they finally told me they could arrange delivery....for 1st August! I decided to cancel as I have little faith that the item will turn up on the promised date and I'm fed up of waiting. The person I spoke to at the carrier (Ceva Logistics) clearly didn't give a hoot and abdicated all responsibility back to Habitat (in spite of the fact that someone from Ceva had previously told me the problem was with their system). Oh and to add insult to injury, my refund will take '7 to 10 working days'!!

Very bad experience. Chair delivered a week late and with without warning. We had gone on holiday by then so a helpful neighbour took delivery. Upon return we realised that the base was missing so chair is unusable. We paid in full for the chair in October 2010. It is now March 2011 and Habitat customer services still can't tell us when the missing part will be delivered. Worse, we have a large unusable item cluttering up our living room these last few months. Customer services tell us something different every time we call!

Habitat has nice overall merchandise at reasonable prices but it's a terrible website, fussy and basically unreadable. Please improve!

The Habitat website is difficult to use. It might look flash, but it is clumsily designed with little usability. Go and get a catalogue; it's far easier, or visit the shop, because you can't buy anything online anyway!!
