My Fair Lady - Two words: AUDREY HEPBURN. Those two words should really be enough to convince you to watch this film if you've never seen it. But if you're young or inexperienced in the world of film I'll give a bit more.... Audrey Hepburn plays Eliza Doolittle, a working class street seller "rescued" by Rex Harrison's Henry Higgins who makes a bet that he can teach her upper class speech and manners in time to pass her off as a Duchess in front of the Queen at a ball. While Eliza learns to act in a genteel manner, she softens her harsh and mysogynistic teacher as well.
The cast is fantastic, the songs are among the best in any musical, the costumes are divine and the story is really heartwarming and lovely, coming from George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, it has a much more upbeat ending. Even though Hepburn's singing was dubbed by another woman, you won't notice. You'll be thoroughly entranced and will want to watch this film over and over and over again!
This is one of my favourite films of all time and a true Hollywood classic!
