Good Points: Great casting, a must see for all Sid James fans. With his dirty laugh and rougish look, Sid steals the show. A vicar by day, a highwayman by night, the laughs just keep coming, aided by his housemaid and Sexton the Reverend, Flasher causes mayhem for the incompetent Bow Street runners trying to capture them. Lots of smutty innuendo and of course Sid in a dress (not to be missed). Light, very amusing, just the thing for a rainy day. With its Puritan housekeeper and saucy housemaid both in love with the Reverend Flasher, incompetent police and a Cockney wench with a bad French accent, it really is the best of the rest.
Bad Points: The last few scenes are a little overplayed, but the rest of the film sure makes up for it.
General comments: Carry On Dick to me is a prime example of classic English humour, it and the rest of the series are a light-hearted atempt at satire. Well-writen, low budget films that you either love or loathe, (like marmite there is no in-between!). Before buying you should be aware that they do contain a lot of low-grade smut in the guise of comic innuendo that could offend, and I would not recomend viewing for young children as some scenes contain semi-nakedness. Having taken this into consideration, if you want a really good laugh, buy a Carry On film, you can watch them untill you know the dialogue word-perfect and still they have the power to amuse. If you are looking for value for money, look no further, stop messing about and buy a Carry On !!!!!
