I brought these speakers 2nd hand and paid 75 euros for them.
Connected to my Onkyo mini set (CR 325UK) they sounded horrible (compared to B&Ws 602s II) but when I connected them to my Cambridge Audio 520 Receiver: a different story. Perfect. Balanced tone. (as well in the low (controlled) as in the high (nothing missing, not to much (treble flat)).
Pro's : Floorstanders, small, natural, dynamic sound, very suitable for Dolby surround (if partnered with 70s and a Mission Center)
Con's : Need decent powerful source.

When I tried to buy these Mission 702e Stereo Speakers from Richer Sounds, they desperatley tried to flog me some Eltax Liberty floor standers. Eventually they gave me the missions and I have been very impressed. I am upgrading my amp to a NAD C350 and a guy a Richer said it wasn't worth it as the Missions would be rubbish, had a high failure rate and wouldn't cope with a loud kick drum. I have cranked up these speakers using a live version of Hotel California from the Eagles 'When Hell Freezes Over' album. The kick drum on the intro rocked the whole house!!! (And the speakers are still in one piece)!

Im not suprised about RS trying to sell you Eltaxs.Although cheaper,they actually get a better mark up as they purchase all Eltax speakers by the bucket load! I know this as my friend works at RSs. They should provide you with impartial advice.Im suprised that they didnt try a push Cambridge Audio products, as this firm trades exclusively thruogh Richer Sounds.Saying that Cambridges range is top class & probably one of the best value hi-fi makers on the market.

The Mission 701's got a 5 star rating from What Hi-Fi magazine though! I bought 2 pairs from Richer Sounds and was also advised agains't them in favour of Eltax.
<br/>I was told that 'the Missions are made of cardboard and plastic and would fall to bits within weeks!'<br/>11 Years of almost daily thrashing later and they are still in perfect condition and sound great!
<br/>
<br/>I believe Eltax are sound exclusively in the UK through Richer Sounds? Make of that what you will lol!

I bought these Mission 702e speakers from richersounds for £100 back in October of last year and have been very pleased with them since. The bass reproduction is very sharp and accurate, going as deep as you like! The treble is also clear and sharp. The mid-range can be a bit lacking with certain audio sources, but nothing to complain about. Overall, these speakers are well worth the money, and work well with many amps.

I bought these speakers at 'Richersounds' for £90, and have been pleased ever since. I started off with a pair of Mission 700's and decided that it was time for an upgrade. The speakers look and price drew me in. Excellent low end with sharp precise treble, but then you wouldn't expect anything else from mission. Don't hesitate to buy, trust me and you will be pleased.

After having a pair of Mission 700s for 2 years, I decided to upgrade. I purchased a Yamaha DSP-AX620 amplifier and a pair of Mission 702e speakers. On first hearing the speakers I was totally impressed. They sounded much better than the 700s, with the bass output being considerably higher and the treble being much more defined. I now have the 700s as rears, and am totally impressed when running the amp in stereo, and DD modes. However, as with the 700s, the speakers couldn't reach their full potential, with some bass speaker distortion at high volume. I thought to myself, well look at the size of them. For such a compact speaker, they handle plenty of power and the construction is superb.

These front firing speakers are great if you have a versatile room, where you can position them correctly, but if you have a restricted room, then these will not sound as good. However, sound quality is better than the replacements (m73's) if you position them just right. Also you cannot expect these speakers to give a good quality of sound if you wire them up to a 30wpc amp. Give them a chance to impress with a powerful amp. Bi-wiring is definitely a massive improvement on these speakers, and if bi wiring means a lower qualitt cable, then so be it. A budget cable bi wired will outperform an expensive cable non bi-wired. ALl said and done, wire them up properly to a good quality system, then these speakers beat many £300 counterparts

The Mission 702e speakers represent excellent value for money in the budget sector.
Despite what other reviews may say, it's quite clear that with their high sensitivity (89db/m), 702e's are perfect for fairly low powered amps. I use them with a bi-amp Technics, kicking out a measly 30w RMS per channel and I can certainly say they are huge improvement over my Celestion F3's which cost a fair bit more!
If you're in the market for a lot of speaker for your money then Mission 700 series speakers are for you, so long as you buy them through that godsend of a shop - Richer Sounds...
Bass is tight and deep,
Mid/treble open & crisp.

Thinking laterally rather than just praising mission.
<br>
<br>Bi amping 4 separate channels to these speakers will result in the speakers receiving 60 watts each!!!

<br>PS mission are great, I have 705's (front), 702e (rear) 70c3 (centre) and a Yamaha DSP amplifier, and it cracks the paint on my walls! Carry on mission

These Mission 702e speakers are WELL made, SOUND great and LOOK the business....though if you have bundles of cash then yes, there are better floorstanders to be had.....But not at this price!!!!! (i have these coupled with a sony subwoofer which i believe helps them along in the bass department).

Mission 702e speaker specs:
85cm high (without spikes)
21.5 Wide
28cm deep
(Measurements from my speakers)
These speakers boast 100 watt @ 8ohms and are built to the high quality that you'd come to expect from mission.
Perfect for Dance and Rock music, they also deliver good imagery and clarity when used with the right components. i would recommend bi-wiring and if your budget allows, bi-amping this will make your new missions really shine, whether it be Marilyn Manson or Celene Deon. You're sure to be impressed.
But Beware, with a low power amplifier, such as 30wpc, these speakers sound rather confused and muffled. I would recomend 50wpc, this will give you more control and dynamics too!

These Mission 702e's are great loudspeakers but they need a good quality amplifier AND good interconnects/cables to get the sound you are looking for! I tried them first with two smaller amplifiers and was very disappointed with the terrible noise they produced. But after connecting them to my Harman Kardon 150 w amplifier, placing them higher in the room and experimenting with different cables, these speakers prove to be extremely musical...
And notice the recent absurd price at richer : euro 39!

I got the Mission 702e speakers after looking in the richer sounds sales catalouge and the review sounded promising. After getting them home and setting them up quickly in my living room i was pleasantly suprised at the sound quality, although i did have to tighten the screws to stop the awful buzzing from the speaker. I only use these for my PC bi wired with a cambridge audio A5, in a small room. And they do still sound great. Perhaps a larger Bass driver would have added a nice edge to them.....

Ever since I was about 8 years old I have always wanted to own a pair of missions. Now that I have bought myself a flat I decided to buy a pair. It was either the 773's or m73's. But then I realised that the 702e's were What Hi-Fi award winners which meant that it can't be bad. Style is very important to me and I didn't like them very much but decided to take a gamble knowing that I could take them back should I change my mind. I got them for under £100 and when I got them home I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. With the grilles on...they look incredibly smart and definitely more than the £100 price tag. Hooking them up I found that the sound was somewhat disappointing...but only initially. After setting my amp to source direct-- the sound was superb. Great bass and good treble. The low frequency's are quite low enough for me and aren't clean enough plus the mid range is unrefined. My favourite speakers are the m74's...very nice indeed. But then again they are almost 3 times the price and to be honest they're not 3 times better. If you have the money, buy the m74's, if not or if you wanna save money or if you have a small room, buy the 702e's.......

These speakers will impress you and everybody that hears them, allthough they still sound ok with a poorer amplifier, cranking them up to high levels resorts to flappy uncontrolled bass. But bi-wired with a solid amplifier shows that these speakers are incredible value for money, perfect for home cinema or music.

Neil Patterson's Response to Phil H's Review

Yes I used to work for Richer sounds and "desperately tried to flog Eltax Liberty 5+ speakers" to customers over these 702e's!!! The reason is simple the 702e are not good speakers (I got my sister the Liberty 3+'s by the way and she still has them......I do love my sister too!). Not very accurate with a whomphy (new word folks!!) kind of sound. I have nothing against Mission speakers. I have owned a few, in fact when I used to run a Linn Sondek and had to downsize my speakers I bought a pair of Missions back in the day. I would not use the 702's though as they are fairly poor (I really want to say they are hateful but I am restraining myself and attempting to remain objective!). They are OK for disco and the like and loud parties but I don't think they are much of a speaker at all. I have some very nice very expensive Kef references nowadays thanks very much so I do value good sound. I did own a pair of Mission M71's too (did because they are up for sale right now!!) and receive them as a pretty good accurate speaker with a few shortcomings overall. We also sold the Mission 701's which were an awful awful speaker. They somehow got good reviews too. Cloudy midrange, indistinct bass, subdued treble, lifeless, listless and on and on. They could play fairly loud though so they flew out the door to bass heads. It worries me when I see people saying speakers like these are very good. It generally is people with fairly pedestrian latter day budget systems who haven't heard a good arc of equipment and so cannot (in general) put them into any sort of meaningful context. I challenge you to hear some better stuff (oy no mp3's please!) or even just different and still think these are up to much. Nice big box though!
